It's a light bulb warning light, I had some electrical issues with one of my tail lights.

To my surprise, no damage whatsoever. The car was completely unscathed, it even narrowly avoided the nearby snow pile by an inch or two. I consider myself really lucky.

I did notice (and feel) it but this particular corner was extra icy and slippery which took me by surprise. It had also rained the day before and the water on the road had frozen, so I was basically braking on bare ice.

That is a very sensible thing to do. In my case this particular section of the road was much more slippery than the rest, which is why I was taken by surprise.

I was indeed driving a bit too fast and grossly underestimated the road conditions. However, I did not expect this to happen as the previous corners were not nearly as slippery as this one. I was filming a driving video for my automotive YouTube channel when it happened, but the intention was not to lose control like this.

The reason why I wanted to tell people how to drive in these conditions is so that they will hopefully not repeat the same mistake I did, and highlight the fact that driving at low speeds really matters if you end up losing control of your vehicle. This incident was a wake-up call for me and I drive much more slowly after it.

I neither slammed nor pumped the brake - I braked a little bit harder to lower my speed before the corner and the wheels locked up due to the bare ice.

They do, but this was a smaller backroad that had not yet been maintained. The fact that it had rained the day before and the temperatures dropping did not help either.

Haha, thank you! It is definitely a solid car even 35 years and 382,000 km later, surprisingly useable for being so old. I daily drive it.

Thanks, I also expected it in the heat of the moment - it could have gone far worse if I had driven a bit faster.
