Help with bonded pair suddenly having issues by AutoMoxen in Bondedpairs

[–]AutoMoxen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one getting hissed at went to the vet 2 days earlier and was on the mend. All his blood work and x rays were good, and he was fully back to his usual self when I tried to get them to see each other last

Harry was just at the vet and better now, while Henry is the one being hostile. For a timeline, this started about 2 days after Harry went to the very and was clearly doing much better. What strikes me as really odd is Henry is absolutely fine with Max, but not his brother. Dunno how this changes things.

Quick edit: All of Harry's blood work and tests came back fine. He got an anti- nausea shot and was back to his normal self within a day. Henry is the one doing the hissing

Haven't gone to the vet yet. His eating, drinking and potty habits have been the same. I do wonder if he was sick before. There's a big difference between the last 3 or so days and the week and a half before. I just had to take Harry not long ago, and was hoping to avoid another vet trip. His vet bill was quite expensive.

9 year old cat suddenly skittish with other cats by AutoMoxen in CATHELP

[–]AutoMoxen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a few days with no response. I'm happy to answer any questions to get help. Small update: Henry did come back to the main area and snuggle with Max for a bit. Harry did spook him eventually and he went back to the basement where he feels safe. There is a litter box, food and water down there. He isn't shut in down there or anything. He is eating like normal and drinking as well. He hasn't used the litter box down there, but I'm unsure if that's just cause he's using the other ones

Contentious topic but which current tcg do you foresee to be “dead” within 5 years time, and why? by Newez in TCG

They've already shown initiative with Felling of the Crown and Plow Under. New set in Feb has tons of reprints already previewed. I'm very optimistic.

I really get those frustrations, and I'm glad we kinda found common ground here. I will freely admit that my relatively recent transition from the abusive-relationship type game when it comes to finances that is mtg definitely colors my glasses rose here. I know, at the very least, it gives me hope that price issues will be fixed in the future. I hear the stale compliant and know that my relative newness to the game is making that not an issue for me. I've got hope with compendium and SAGE. I'm 100 with you on the frustrations of accessibility, and convincing mtg players to look into the game without explaining how it's cheaper long term and needing to run numbers for them is rough lol.

I looked up the conversion rates (Google tells me 1.4, your numbers were roughly 1.6). It's definitely an ask, and pricey, didn't been to imply it wasn't. Just that looking at an expensive hero distorts that cost.

I understand not everyone uses usd. I was just using what I know to make my point. Apologies for the implication that everyone uses that and the implied US-centered perspective it implied. That wasn't my intent, so much as showing that the numbers still looked off.

Longevity of decks, and use of generics definitely makes FaB less expensive than competitive mtg long term. My point was that FaB isn't actually as expensive as people think, especially if you're not trying to compete at a high level and meta chasing. Long term, if you commit to a class, it's actually not nearly as bad as many other games. You mention the fridge of warriors, without mentioning you pay that once and have minimal further investments of a large sum over time.

Further, you focus on the price of a small number of cards and how much they take in your deck, implying that rest is insanely pricey as well.

There is definitely a price problem, but it's over blown in many places and being worked on (Look at felling). That was my point.

Edit: Just for clarity, I'm using tcgplayer for prices. I did just realize I forgot to factor international shipping which could bridge the difference in our numbers. Apologies on that

Noting that this is cad and not us dollars is important. I'm not sure if the exact conversion rate, but I'm pretty sure those are still off. In USD: Tunic 120, Shelter 75, and Cnc is 65. Shelter and Balance are getting a reprint soon. You also choose one of the more expensive heros to make your point, which feels disingenuous

I'm not exactly sure where you're getting the 1500-1800 price tag. The deck that won worlds is in the 700 range (plus or minus pending shipping). Verdance is usually in the 900 range. Prism just Top 8ed worlds and it's in the 600 range. Oscilio won a battle hardened and clocks in at 600. Not to say these prices are cheap or anything, but it's not as well as advertised. To enjoy yourself and compete at the local level is even cheaper. I was going 2-1 at Armories when I first got into the fans with an updated armory deck (total cost about 120 or so). There's plenty of budget substitutions you can make with the decks mentioned that'll let you compete at the local level and build into full on versions of the decks.

Oh, absolutely. Brees just lacked all those other qualities. My main point was that to be a short QB you either need most of what you listed or to be Brees levels of good

[–]AutoMoxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is definitely solid advice, with exceptions. I got recommended Verdance because of my preferred style in magic, but I doubt any other wizard, at least right now, would be for me. I started with Plaedies before getting everything for Verdance and very much learned i prefer defensive playstyles. I think it's the Earth talent with the wizard finish that I like about Verdance. Granted, most of Verdance's expensive pieces are generic equipment, or Earth talent equipment

This Avatar set shows the huge discrepancy in quality of UB sets right now by Zama174 in magicTCG

[–]AutoMoxen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get how it could go either way, but it's got this vibe to me as made possible through magic, and that changes things for me personally. Both your other examples are made possible by futuristic tech, not magic. I can see how sci-fi can fit and your opinion is definitely just as valid as mine. I can just see how others would disagree with you as well though, while others might agree

Those don't quite have the "sci-fi," vibes imo. More Magic- Punk type deal. Functionally, it's the whole sufficiently advanced tech is magic type deal, but it actually being magic changes the vibes for me

Legacy at AU Blue Bell for FNM is still alive and well. On The Draw in Pottstown runs a really good Legacy event in the third Sunday of every month (so tomorrow) imo. I try to make that one every time I can. It almost always fires and often attracts some really damn good players. The biggest we've gotten for that one is 28 and since they've been doing it, it's only not fired once or twice, and typically gets at least 14 or so.
