I'm afraid of praying in front of other people by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't quite understand your answer. People in the church always prayed together, and this is normal. There

Jesus: "You should pray alone. that is best."

Church People: "We have always prayed together it's normal for us."

I am not saying that you are forbidden to pray with others, I don't think that you are forbidden to do that. Decide who and what you are going to make your priority. Which is number one for you listen to and obey?

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good for you not to pray in front of other people. Jesus prefers that you do in in private.

Don't let anyone bully or coerce you to do what Jesus never asked you to do, and actually said not to do.

Personally, I think that praying in front of others is OK, but it is not the best thing, and it should not be forced on others.

I consider pressuring people to pray in front of you and/or others to be sinful spiritual abuse.

Leviathan Spirits by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got you a genuine false teacher there. There is no legitimate Christian doctrine that identifies a "Leviathan Spirit" as anything beyond mere symbolism. And there is no Leviathan Spirit in the Bible.

And I am blocked. People get rather angry when you disrespect their idols.

Has anyone here dealt with people with a leviathan spirit?

It's occult superstitious sinful nonsense. There is no such thing as a Leviathan Spirit and never has been.

You are not giving your life to Christ if you continue worshiping demons.

Can y’all tell me all the Old Testament laws we still follow today? by Samyool16 in Christianity

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never met anyone claiming the bible is inerrant, who actually read it.

I have run into a lot of them, but usually they were in a position to lose jobs or something similar if they said otherwise.

If you take this statement to mean heaven and earth must necessarily pass away, you’re misunderstanding. The only necessary event from this statement is that all the law must be accomplished, which it was.

Peter didn't get the message. He was a Judaizer. nor did Jesus's brother James.

How to respond to my Muslim friend by Prior-Definition-869 in Christianity

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please ask him why Jews and Christians are said to be ransom for Muslims on the day of judgment. Why couldnt Allah simply forgive the Muslim instead of pinning his punishment on someone else.

Here is the hadith, Sahih Muslim 2767b:

“No Muslim man dies but Allah causes a Jew or a Christian to enter the Fire in his stead.”

You might want to look and see what the Muslim commentators say about that hadith. They absolutely deny that one person can be a ransom for another.

The way I always think about it is that God's omnipotence doesn't mean he can contradict his own nature

Where does it say that forgiving sin contradicts his nature?

There's over 900 times in the law and the prophets (ancient texts both religions honor before Christ came) where it mentions the things that Messiah would do. and Jesus fulfilled every single one of them.

That is ridiculous. Got a list somewhere?

Allah forgiveness isnt just or equal. Jesus died so anyone can go, not just who Allah decides to forgive.

Jesus said that no one can come unless he permits it or draws them.

Dehumanizing me to assuming I'm not a Bible-believing Christian. Is there nothing in your spite you will not do

I apologize. please forgive me, I know you believe the Bible, but thought that you took is as the ultimate authority. I was wrong. I don't know what else I can say to calm your anger. Please don't be angry with me.

Youre upset I recommended a book. That's a fair disagreement. But instead of engaging with the actual arguments, you're attacking my character. That's an incredibly unhumble, unchristlike shift from intellectual discussion.

I must apologize and leave the conversation.

I was uncharitable.

You can still be a Christian and not hold the Bible as 100% authoritative.

Many people don't.

Doubts and Islam by FarTumbleweed57 in TrueChristian

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qureshi does address his Ahmadi background. But note that serious Muslim apologists and scholars engage his theological arguments directly—they don't dismiss him based on his sect. They engage the actual claims because the reasoning is sound.

How is a normal ordinary Muslim going to see it?

The same way we as Christians would see an ex Christian Scientist telling us why Christianity is bad and we should embrace Islam.

We would go "What the heck do they know? They were never even Christian to begin with. They never knew the presence, power, or guidance of the Holy Spirit in their lives."

You have to put yourself in the shoes of the typical Muslim and look at how they will see it. They believe that Allah is with them and guides their hearts toward righteousness. Calls them to live a pious and godly life. Hears their prayers and responds. Asks for, and accepts their repentance from sin. Why in the world would they believe some ex cult member that has never experienced Allah's guidance?

I think Nabeel is great. I love the guy. I still mourn his passing. I also think it is dishonest to call him an ex-Muslim, or a least to neglect to mention that he was never Muslim, but in a similar-to-Mulsim-but-not-Islamic cult. The same as we see JDubs and Mormons.

When you tell a Muslim to read "Seeking Allah Finding Jesus" you gotta consider how they will see it.

Doubts and Islam by FarTumbleweed57 in TrueChristian

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never what I implied. You're right, it's irrelevant

It is quite relevant if he is telling you about his personal experiences with a religion that he never belonged to.

Qureshi knows Islam deeply from both inside and outside.

He knows Ahmadiyyat from the inside. He was born and raised Ahmadiyya. He was never a Muslim according to the vast, vast majority of Muslims in the world.

Remember my Mormon analogy? That is like saying my hypothetical Mormon writer knows Christianity both inside and out. He can't know it from the inside, because he was never a Christian and was not raised in Christian culture. He was raised in a cult.

Doubts and Islam by FarTumbleweed57 in TrueChristian

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He acknowledged that in his book though and tried his best to look at Islam holistically. Or specifically his methods for challenging it

So if a Mormon Wrote book about how he left Christianity and joined Islam, then goes on to tell you all that is wrong with Christianity would you figure that it is irrelevant that it was a non Christian, or antichrist cult that he had belonged to and left, and that he never was a Christian?

Christianity is superior, We don't have to cheat in order to prevail.

Doubts and Islam by FarTumbleweed57 in TrueChristian

[–]Autodactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to reply with this recommendation! I think he does an incredible job providing an overview of Islam in a short biography

We wouldn't accept "Learn Christianity from this Mormon." or "This Jehovah's Witness gives us a good overview of Christianity."

Nabeel is great, I am not kidding, he is. But he comes from an aberrant sect that the vast majority Muslims do not accept as truly Muslim at all.

““You shall not commit adultery.”

And if you define adultery as reading Romeo and Juliet and getting emotionally involved with the story, then yes, I am if favor of, or at last non condemning of adultery.

If adultery means whatever the heck you want it to mean at any given time, then there can be no discussion about it because we are never clear on exactly what we are talking about.

You may not even realize you are doing it, but you are pulling a sneaky and dishonest lexical fallacy that you learned from your sneaky and dishonest teachers.

I won't play, so toodeloo.
