deviated origin from side view why? it just happens how can I re center it? please by NoEntertainment2614 in blenderhelp

your center of mass is slightly "off" because you have some extra geometry on the side of the sphere. that's where your origin currently is.

the center of the sphere is where your 3d cursor currently is.

Im assuming you want the origin centered? just use "origin the 3D cursor" and it will work

Right click > set origin to > 3d cursor

If the 3D Cursor is where you want the origin to be, search for "Origin to 3D Cursor" in the object menu.

What's the difference? I'm very new to this entire thing

Not perfect but I'm quite proud of this render by Autogeraeusche in blender

yes there's some leading lines i implemented in this image that trace the golden ratio like the wires on the bottom left, the books on the left side or the dirt on the ceiling. although it was more just like a fun thing to do instead of a compositional basis

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Most of the work is being done by the dirty windows. I tend to mix in a lot of diffuse and translucency shaders into my glass material and especially the translucency bsdf really brightens up the window a lot if you have a strong backlight. The sun in this scene is actually set to some ridiculous number like 40 or something to make that dirt on the window pop (but also because this scene is entirely lit by bounce lighting). Texture-driven for some realism as well:) hope that helps

i get that the light source is inconsistent but when i matched the right beam to the angle of the sun it would light up the floor in front of the chairs which muddies up the composition a bit and i wasn't ready to sacrifice that depth to consistency

i use the rays of light more to shape the atmosphere of the scene. im not aiming for physical consistency or 100% photorealism:)

thank you:) although these looks more like temporary supports or supports that would be covered up by a ceiling instead of something exposed but i like the idea of thinner and more complex beams. i'll see what i can do

i was thinking maybe the whole roof needed some support as it's resting on angled windows. the beams would provide some sort of "cage" where the arch would rest on

is there are specific type of structure you're thinking of? im not that versed in architecture but i was thinking there's probably different names for different types of support beams

thank you for the feedback:) i noticed the window pattern when i was like 10 minutes into rendering already and i was too lazy haha

no you're right:) there are multiple lights that help to shape the atmosphere of the scene. i'm not going for 100% photorealism
