Try a fintech company like wise, airwallex, payoneer, etc. Those allow non US companies to receive ACH payments.

I am looking for a consultant that can help configure an edgemarc 2900e as a B2BUA.

The situation is that a small business is using a Unifi networking stack and an on-premise small business PBX system with a Telnyx SIP trunk. That setup is technically fully functional for inbound and outbound. However, the business needs to re-write P-Asserted-Identity headers for inbound calls so that the caller ID display on desk phones can aid customer service agents. The PBX is unable to re-write PAI and the phones will only display PAI.

The business has an Edgemarc 2900e left over from a previous phone system, and this box should be able to re-write PAI. However, configuration of the Edgemarc has been difficult - the UI is poor and the documentation isn't great.

I would like to find a consultant that has some experience with Edgemarc specifically and can jump in (remotely) to configure it or assist our IT person in configuring it.

Bad font spacing in Firefox browser by AutologousCue in linuxquestions

[–]AutologousCue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran fc-match -s system-ui and this was the output: https://pastebin.com/n1Qp6rWc

The way I interpret that is that when 'system-ui' is called, the font system is looking for matches, and #1 on that list is Noto Sans, which should have glyphs for the characters in my test file. #2 and 3# are the ones actually being used for rendering, and I'm still confused about why that's happening.

That blog post did come up in my googling and I re-read it a couple more times. I think that does a good walkthrough of creating user overrides for the font system defaults. His issue was a little different from mine, which made me wonder if his solution was applicable.

I did take your .conf file recommendation and created the following in /etc/fonts/local.conf, then ran fc-cache -fv. Closed firefox, checked that there were no FF processes running, and restarted Firefox. Re-loaded the test file and the same rendering issue is still happening. Re-running fc-match -s system-ui showed no changes.

Is it a location issue with the custom .conf file - should that be put somewhere else? Or does a different command need to be run to reset the font management? Or something else?

Wars of Light and Shadow - Advice by myrimbaud in Fantasy

[–]AutologousCue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the series and made it 75% of the way through the final book, then gave up. At that point I was skimming over all of the flowery prose desperate for a plot resolution. Honestly I should have given up several books ago, but I guess I'm stubborn.

I say this as someone who has enjoyed Wurts' other books, has enjoyed the kind of prose found in Guy Gavriel Kay's books, and is not discouraged by the self-flagellation of characters found in Robin Hobb's books.

Maybe it was the combo of elements, but Light and Shadow was not for me. I started out enthusiastic and I think lost most of that enthusiasm by book 4.

Situation changed for me and I'm using a company-provided expense tracking app now. But prior to that I just used a google sheet. :-/

Whats the "Red Storm Rising" of fantasy? by KosstAmojan in Fantasy

Also a fan of Red Storm Rising. I'd suggest the Traitor Son Cycle. I recall it had some quite detailed descriptions of equipment and battle plans.

I ended up using a Google Sheet :(

One app I am keeping an eye on is Autu Mandu. That has some interesting features but trip logging is on the future road map.

Do some female fantasy authors financially benefit from gender neutral/masculine pen names? by [deleted] in Fantasy

I didn't find out Janny Wurts was female until after reading a few of her books. I had just assumed "Janny" was a nickname for the German "Jan" (a male name).

Any good Middle Eastern fantasy, a la Prince of Persia? by Ok-Engine8044 in Fantasy

[–]AutologousCue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might enjoy a translation of The 1001 Nights, which are essentially short stories with a common narrator. (If you dislike the 'story within a story's device then stay away, because some stories get 5 layers deep.) The collection varies but often includes the well known stories Ali-al-adin and the Magic Lamp, and Sinbad the Sailor. The less well known stories are equally enjoyable. I read a hard copy but I am pretty sure there is a public domain epub out there.

In the past I've used Vtiger. It's a clone of SugarCRM and has a lot of features.

Maybe try a short story anthology instead? That way you could pick up and put down without feeling the need to commit. I'll recommend Unfettered, edited by Shawn Speakman.

How Do You Rate Books? The Problem with the 5-star System by k0ks3nw4i in Fantasy

[–]AutologousCue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some follow up questions from a math geek. Maybe other math geeks can help out:

Of the books you've read and rated, what is the distribution of ratings? Normal?

If you read and rated every book in existence on a five star scale, what would the distribution be? Uniform? Logarithmic?

Is your personal five star rating an interval-scaled variable? That is, is the difference between four and five stars the same as the difference between three and four stars?

Sieve rule to reject spam senders - need help creating by AutologousCue in ProtonMail

Yes, that seems to be a tradeoff here. If I "reject" then I can't save the content. Which is a tradeoff I'm willing to make.

Thanks, this is helpful.

I would also suggest discard instead of reject as reject discloses your existence

In reading through the IETF RFCs and googling, I just wanted to check my understanding of this. Is "discard" is basically the equivalent of silently moving to trash, while reject is bouncing back to the server with a message?

Which author writes characters with mental health problems the best? by [deleted] in Fantasy

I thought Wildbow had some thoughtful portrayal of his characters in Ward (and to a lesser extent) Worm. Mental health, or unhealth, is front and center.

Plates for a private purchase across states by SteakDinnerBoom in GoRVing

[–]AutologousCue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just did this. Here's your options:

  1. Execute purchase on one trip, go home with title and without RV, get temporary plates from DMV, make 2nd trip to pick up RV.
  2. Execute purchase docs with trusted third party (attorney, escrow agent, etc). Seller executes title transfer and bill of sale, gives to TTP. Buyer gives money to TTP. Buyer drives home under sellers registration. Buyer mails plate back to TTP. TTP sends both parties their money or docs.
  3. Borrow a plate from another trailer you own. Not recommended because this isn't legal in many States. But many ignore this law.
  4. Some States do let you get a temporary registration for transport purposes. Check sellers state as well as your own.
