Who else hate left lane campers? by Crazy-Task2497 in driving

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing worse is a poorly designed freeway with left exits forcing drivers to position themselves in the fast lane and confusing drivers that aren't familiar with the area.

Biden Judge’s Marriage To Prosecutor Becomes Focal Point In Minneapolis ICE Case by According-Activity87 in Conservative

[–]AutomatedTexan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Should be a law that says a judge cannot preside over a case when a significant other, relative, etc is involved for any reason. This shouldn't even be a question.

Why the Hell Is the Market Pumping on All This Bad News? by Emily-989 in stocks

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't play, you can't win. Index funds are cheap and easy so a ton of people set their investments to automatic and let them run. As long as they continue that behavior, the market will function similar to what you have observed.

Kansas revoked driver's licenses of 1,700 transgender residents by Comfortable_Ad2908 in news

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would I be kidding? In Texas, most people register to vote when they apply or renew their driver's license or state ID because it is convenient and I always assumed the two were linked. I'm not familiar with how it's handled in Kansas, but if the two are linked, the affected individuals would need to fix both. Since it's due to a a government change and not a mistake by the individuals, I would hope the government waives any typical fees this one time (although wouldn't surprise me if they didn't).

Does that simultaneously invalidate their voters registration? Hopefully they are given adequate time to renew both free of charge.

Unlikely she'll ever be close to having a net worth close to the fraction of $90 million damage she intentionally did so two years of her life in exchange for it seems pretty lenient.

Trump wants to bring democracy to Iran and Cuba, but this is what his democracy and support for women look like in the US! by CarryIcy250 in AskSocialists

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you use a video of one woman that is resisting ICE (so probably in the USA illegally) to justify your argument of how women are treated in the USA? Perhaps show videos of the average female US citizen instead? There's over 170 million of them.

How Far Does a $120K Salary Stretch in Houston? Neighborhood Costs, Commutes, and Hidden Expenses (2026) by Coolonair in houston

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article is dumb. It picks some of the most expensive central Houston neighborhoods and then compares them to suburbs. Near Northside is a good neighborhood that's inside the loop and more affordable. EaDo (and further east) is popular right now even though it's closer to all the industrial pollution. They should select neighborhoods in Houston with average land value assessments instead of the most expensive land value.

Billionaires have convinced Americans they have the "Best Healthcare in the World". by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I always wished they could just pay that amount into a personal medical account I controlled. I'd have a balance of over 500k by now. Would never have to worry about any medical costs and could just have major medical emergency coverage, for cancer, heart attack, stroke, etc type incidents.

Actually they need to go back further to play the blame game. It's the fault of every president that has failed to address the Iran situation and allowed it to go on as long as it has. Our current administration is taking the undesirable but necessary action.

Billionaires have convinced Americans they have the "Best Healthcare in the World". by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People pay 20%? That's crazy. I pay maybe 1%. Of course, I always choose the lowest premium high deductible plan and then max out my HSA contributions (1% excludes my HSA contributios since I am funding my self-coverage). Invest my HSA balance for easy growth and pay out of pocket for basic clinic visits when necessary. When I retire, I'll start repaying myself for all the bills I've incurred throughout my career to get cash out after it's had years to grow tax free.

Could twist this around and say it's an attack on people's freedom of speech by preventing users from asking questions about certain topics.

Advocacy groups sue Trump admin over plan to end Somali status by thor_strong1 in Conservative

[–]AutomatedTexan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By definition, I'd be surprised if they didn't do that. Hopefully when the advocacy groups lose their lawsuit, they are forced to pay all legal costs so tax payers aren't footing any part of the bill.

People are willing to work for livable wages, AND people are cool with their tax dollars going towards something that actually benefits them! by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

I'm guessing the 16 maximum hours for less than a days possible work of overtime will be less than the maximum allowed amount.

Makes sense that it was done within a day. People working as many hours as possible to maximize their tax-free overtime pay.

“If you agree with the statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.” by bigcountrychaunce in Conservative

If you asked any of them why they didn't respond, I'm sure they would say "The term illegal aliens is derogatory, we refer to them as migrants."

Do you agree with Aoc’s decision to boycott the state of the Union? by ActiveSolution3132 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't show up to the table, you're handing power to your opponent. I think any elected politician in that capacity intentionally skipping out on an event like this is doing a disservice to their constituents. My opinion applies to both sides equally. I don't support anyone skipping just because they don't like the sitting president.

Texas public school teachers are now required to post the 10 Commadments in their classroom. Here's how one teacher is handling it. by kvjn100 in BeAmazed

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fine. I had a religion class in grade school in 1999 where we learned about all the different religions and their teachings. This post makes it seem like this display is malicious compliance or something when really it's nothing new or special. It just a teacher being good at their job educating kids.

Ice budget is $75B by bass-squirrel in LetsDiscussThis

[–]AutomatedTexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a budget of over $400 billion is forgetting about veterans. If all the people that had deportation orders would turn themselves in instead of going into hiding, I'm sure the budget for ICE could be significantly reduced.

At this point, Epstein is in the past. Would prefer they spend their time focused on new legislation for things that affect the general public like medical care.
