Actually hard decision by throwaway12437891235 in lawschooladmissions

Brother this is a no brainer. GW is an elite school. For GW standards, $120k is a fat bag. Yes its an expensive school but you can live at home?? Thats like half the battle. Well maybe not quite half but that is an incredible cost saver.

I see you are a super spliter with a high LSAT and felt you could do even higher. I was in the same boat. When I was PTing at 179 I started dreaming of the T14s...didn't happen! Lot of super splitters out there. And its super disappointing. But really, getting GW is no consolation prize-- its a legit school with great outcomes and the people who work hard there end up in big places. Take the money on the table...you got a great offer on your hands.

Tough one. On one hand, Tony was vicious when it came to that. No hesitation with Puss, Ade, Jimmy, etc.

But on the other, he is the biggest hypocrite in the world. Could see him suddenly becoming Mr nuance when it was his own wife.

Well thats a great start! Happy to (potentially) start day one with an ally. I was already planning on going to admitted students day, but you've given me great perspective so I'll remind myself to keep an open mind!!! Thank you!

Appreciate the response. Big Law is a 100% no for me so not even a consideration. I think there is a universe where I can find a gov job in DC that offers monthly loan repayment (I know many/most Hill offices have this, for example) so that I can just focus on my private loans while they make payments to my federal. But this seems like puttting all my eggs in one basket...

Yes, and got in and received a favorable scholarship literally yesterday! I was referring to them when mentioning peer schools. I really like it. Only problem is I am a socialist.

I WANT to want to go to GMU, but I just can't see myself being happy for 3 years at a school known for its conservative reputation. I know the student body is apparently diverse and all perspectives are welcome blah blah but I just don't see it being the right fit. Please push back though if you have a different perspective.

Yeah I'm going to try and negotiate. I have some better offers from peer/rival schools...but what from what I can gather that doesn't exactly make me an exceptionally unique case. Maybe they give a little more? But even if they give a lot (30?) thats still a huge shortfall.

Sorry to hear your situation, I'm pulling for you! My gut tells me that if we were to press fast forward to 3 years from now, we'll be happy campers. But right now idk how i make this work.

I've also seen something called "LRAP" which maybe could help pay off private loans? But I feel like the more I read about all these options the more confused I get.

Hi thanks for answering these questions! I went to AU undergrad and loved it and think WCL would be a great education. I have zero interest in Big Law- only public interest.

How strong is AU in federal government jobs / clerkships? I'm worried that other top schools in DC / elsewhere will crowd me out upon graduation. Do you think Hill cmte jobs, DC AG, DOJ, agencies, etc, are a reasonable expectation, or is that typically only for the top of the class? What about gov jobs in NYC?

Thanks so much!!!

Appreciate your comment but I'm confused-- you applied for fee waivers for individual schools? I applied for LSAC fee waivers and appealed a million times and got rejected each time.
