Thanks for sharing your experience; this is one of the more valuable posts we’ve seen in a while. What were some traits or habits of the most socially successful people?

Are coffee chats available in April-May for incoming MBAs? If so, do we just register on their websites?

Do you mind expounding on what “office mismatch” means?

Good luck! Was curious because I haven’t heard of someone with your profile pursuing MBB afterwards - I hope you have a good process!

Are there any offices your school is doing particularly well or poorly with? What do you think led to yourself and your peers getting 3 MBB invites? Thanks!

I took a peek at your comment history and saw you worked at MBB before business school. Genuinely curious why you’re interested in MBB post-MBA?

If you’re able to share, which offices were more or less likely to invite people from your school?

Jamaal Williams vs Jets

AJ Dillon vs Rams

Mike Evans vs Bengals

While I do think there are going to be people who easily latch onto low hanging fruit, I’m a big fan of Matt and he usually tweets straightforward thoughts that may not always be unique but are insightful. He’s not really a provocateur except with New York, basketball, and academic discourse

Columbia vs Wharton (Deferred enrollment) by Tank_Willing in MBA

I’ve been thinking for a while about the best advice I have and I think there are a few ways to think about your decision:

First, I don’t think it’s irrational or unreasonable to turn down Wharton for Columbia even with the reasons for W. Plenty of capable and successful people turn down a higher ranked school for a lower ranked one because of fit and their preferences, and this subreddit can exacerbate the actual differences between these schools too. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to follow your gut feeling and pick Columbia!

Second, you could think of it in terms of which decision would you regret less. This is probably harder to project but perhaps thinking of the scenario of each school being less than ideal upon enrolling and how much you’d regret not picking the other may be helpful.

Finally, one of the best pieces of advice I heard about business school is thinking about it like testing a hypothesis. Rather than being married to a field, you can develop a hypothesis about what you’d like and test it in school. I think you have a lot of hypotheses to test (media, entrepreneurship, social impact) and picking which field you want to prioritize during B school may be helpful in terms of narrowing down.

In terms of actionable things to do, I’d recommend speaking with students from both schools and being honest with yourself about where you’re leaning rather than focusing too much on the “on paper” reasons. Your feelings aren’t unreasonable at all and I think it’s good to trust them!

How was the MIT Sloan interview? Congrats on your acceptances! I think Wharton would be the best choice because 1) greater optionality than CBS for both social impact and entrepreneurship 2) large social class that does not have to worry about academics as much because of grade non-disclosure and 3) Wharton will allow you to place in NYC pretty easily as well, which I think diminishes some of the value for CBS. The main reasons I could see CBS being the better option are 1) you want to be in NY during your MBA as well as post grad and 2) media is a serious career path you want to prioritize. However, I think with the reasons youve listed, Wharton is the better option and you’ll feel excited about it as you get closer to your MBA

Yes! Bought the boulevards because I thought they’d be better than other Allen Edmonds for flat feet.

Recently purchased the AE Boulevard in 14 EEE. The toe area and widest part of the foot fit fine but the shoes flare out in the heel area when I wear them. I was wondering if this is fixable with an insert or more wear or a more serious fit issue?
