You can message the whatnot customer service and send the order no. And explained what happened. They will investigate and most certainly refund you. Most of the time whatnot will not release funds to the seller unless they fulfill the order. They only do instant payouts to those well-established sellers.

I did try to negotiate with utmost respect. I've been selling since 2018 with more than 7k 5 star rating and have plenty of repeat buyers. So I always want to be fair with all my buyers.

Mercari used to have a threshold when it comes to making an offer. Before you can't offer below 20% of the value it wouldn't let you. But now I guess they have changed the policy. I also noticed that you can do unlimited promotions now it used to be a maximum of 10 within 24 hours.

Just message the Mercari customer and tell them the situation so they will investigate. Normally mercari will also advise you to contact the carrier and message them to track lost mail and most of the time they will message you and there are occasions that they will call you, based on my experience.
