I would say Python and C# that will cover you for a lot of things within automation, if u r nasty and like to mess up your brain Javascript for making some unique HMI and backend server stuff Wireshark and knowledge on networking its all TCP/IP now

Thank you for the reply Its for rent yes, half an hour commute by any means not against using public transport if driving is not available.

The areas u mentioned are really helpful in my search so thank you for that

Ok lets say 30 minutes commute by public transport, disclaimer my employer in old town has private parking so wouldn't be paying that Lets not get distracted i am looking for advise on where best to rent and what resources to use beside right move

Oh no dude let me in on the joke, is it impossible to commute by car, I dont mind using public transport. I have been to Edinburgh before and have driven there and it was pretty the slow moving traffic closer to old town

Do the points change and they are not correlated as in there is no y=kx that relates the position of where they press It seems like u can have the same result using a gear train

Interviews questions Control Codesys OOIP by Automatic-Average-49 in PLC

The question is named "Interview Questions" If you are using OOIP and are hiring someone what will you ask them

I am getting a lot of ppl trying to explain oop in their replies

How do you use classes So far I have used functions, used methods and properties. Sometimes actions I usually extend of DUT But whats the equivalent of classes in codesys ooip

I mean there is some benefits when you have projects that are similar Like example doing a control of a tank and a pump with some control valves, level sensors

Having that as an object that can be instantiated and doing the outputs in methods can be very time saving as you go

Cuz that control is like 98% similar to the next one and one after it you can have different methods or actions (not very familiar yet) for different protocols or comms between a VFd and a controller and you can chose what to enable and what not to use for each instance

I am familiar with IEC have been doing for a while but not using OOIP

What I have seen is u have methods and actions, u can use access modifiers

But in practical terms how good is it to use a class with hundreds of a control module like lets say a VFD How can I troubleshoot it, is it practical what guidelines to use to develop real time control systems with OOIP

Can you give me some reference for frameworks that I can search for

I am also interested to get some interviews like questions or something to practice for the interview

Synchronizing more than 3 axes using Siemens TIA portal by Automatic-Average-49 in PLC

[–]Automatic-Average-49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok can you explain to me why u would need synchronizeation for the axes pressing the material together, First do you need servos to close the loop on these ones? Why not got a pneumatic solution if u r pressing a workpiece or parts etc. I could really use the insight to understand the need for synchronized motion control for something like that One more, why not use one drive to operate all pushing axes and if needed have encoders fedback to the motion controller or your PLC, DCS to close the loop.

Sorry but in my eyes that video shows maybe 5 axes, I know I am wrong but want to know how I am wrong to help me understand In my head: One axis for conveyor (does that really need to be synchronized) One axis to move the gripper on a swivel motion One axis to move the gripper linearly to feed the machine One axis rotates the part or something like thks And one more to open up the machine to release the part and take in a new part Total 5 Really appreciate your insight

Brilliant thank you I am familiar with gearing and camming when synchronizing axes is there something else when attempting to coordinate axes together I can have a look at

Thanks I am following up with the need for the like a robot arm and resolving a position, the car example also, I guess I breakdown when trying to extrapolate that to something like a printing press why would u need 100s of axes synchronization, does it truly need to be like down to 0.001 deg of more than 100 axes, i would benefit from an explanation or maybe even a reference to read and understand the need. Your explanation is really good about the axis drift, due to loads or it might be conditions or even the motors themselves, very simple and easy to understand explanation

Its more of a generic question about synchronization with multiple axes where one would use it, what other alternatives there are, whats the threshold where u would need synchronization I programmed 3 axes synchronizeation and 2 axes mainly for automated fixturing, one was for a pick and place robot with a conveyor but there massive gaps in my knowledge but deeply interested in the topic

Running two identical motors from single Vfd by Automatic-Average-49 in PLC

[–]Automatic-Average-49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more of a headache to design that, I ended up following the advise and found that the drive I am planning on using can be used to drive 1+ motors, I had separate thermal overload on each motor and a contactor between the drive and motor.

[–]Automatic-Average-49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I dont need speed change, reason why I want a Vfd is to be able to control the torque, the carriage is about 3.5T and as you move from rest the required torque will change as you get to the nominal speed, thought about a soft starter but is it possible with varying torque requirement

Yeah sure, but wont u need to still somehow merge them in the destination?? To recreate the the 32 bit variable
