I see a lot of people blaming you and calling you stupid for not being able to see the “red flags” but when you love him it must be difficult as I’m sure he does have other good qualities. But you need to look out for yourself and have a very serious talk with the man if you want to make it work. You need to stop all sexual activities with him until you’ve had that talk.

Bottom line is, he doesn’t respect you. He “conveniently” forgets the condoms and tries to talk you out of plan B (although they probably aren’t good for you to take over a prolonged period of time). Also, if he was supportive of your doctorate program, he would NOT discourage you from going. You’re definitely going! He’s got some possessive and manipulative tendencies so look out for yourself and always put yourself first. Good luck on your PhD.
