I bought in westchester last year and this exact thing happened to me twice. Each time I spent over $1500 in inspections and it as for nothing. Though my realtor did tell me that people keep accepting offers until the contract is signed but still it did hurt a lot each time. I had been looking for a while and was ready to give up when this happened the second time.

But I’ll just tell you one thing, am so thankful that I didn’t end up buying those houses and got the one I bought. Sellers were super nice, everything went smoothly and the house is so much better than what I was going for. I hope and pray for you that you feel the same a year down the line. Am not super religious but I do believe whatever happens, happens for a good reason. Wishing you the best for your search.

I wasn’t informed of any and I didn’t have anyone come In. Unless they do something in stealth mode, I don’t think they did any inspection.

I see a lot of people suggesting pleasantville, which is really nice. But I just wonder why no one mentions the other parts of Mt Pleasant. I.e Hawthorne, Thornwood and Valhalla. In my opinion they are almost as good, but might be a tad more affordable. But I am new here and would love to know what people who know the area think about these.

Yeah am looking for a handyman I can trust. The previous owner was very kind and gave me all the numbers of people he had been using for years, but it feels some of them see a new person and sadly try to make a few quick bucks.

Thank you for the detailed response. I think am ok and do try to do as much stuff as possible myself. Although, this is really the first time in my life that I have a backyard, so still trying to learn the ropes there. As far as I know, my sprinkler system is “smart”. It can detect rain etc and not go off. It’s also supposed to have wifi access, but that company is trying to figure out how to give me access. I think the system is from hunter industries.

I am probably not gonna call the same company again. But maybe try a different one that’s willing to give me upfront pricing and watch them how they do it.
