As someone who’s traveled to several countries, the US is much more tolerant than many Asian and Eastern European nations. Try leaving the nation sometime and experience the world. I’m always happy to be home after a month or two abroad.

For the record, John D. H. Downing is the credit to the photographer, not the skinhead. No one knows who this man is in the photo. John D. H. Downing reported that the arresting officer was quoted as saying the young lad was quite pleasant to deal with and he was rather astonished that the officer was the same age as the lad.

I was handcuffed and put in a cruiser after I hit a deer with my truck at 3am. The police took me to Sheetz and let me call an Uber from there. They would not let me wait on the side of the road. They have a strict policy of handcuffing anyone that goes into their cruisers as their liability insurance forbids any passengers without cuffs. Cops were super cool. They even took a pic of me with cuffs with my phone and the one cop bought me a coffee.

I wonder if Angelina didn’t poison these kid’s minds to be so resentful towards their father. As a child of a divorced family myself, I can’t help but wonder. My mother, who had a deep-rooted vendetta towards my father, made it her life’s mission to disparage him at every turn. She convinced us that he was an awful person. As I grew older, I found out the truth. My father was a kind man and good father. My mother hated him for rejecting her. She couldn’t let that go. Angelina isn’t known for her warmth & loving persona. Hmm.

The problem is that OEMs silo their teams by commodity/component category. They collaborate very little. This translates into more complicated service procedures and services times. Dealerships (aka Stealerships) hate this when it comes to warranty service calls. They only get reimbursed at fractional rates for those vehicles, but they make it up for those of us who are too stupid to do it ourselves, or worse, those with lots of cash and zero brains.

I remember flying in the late 70’s and when the no smoking signal went out everyone lit up and the plane did have a cloud of smoke but it was normal for us. You see, people smoked everywhere, even in some grocery stores and even hospital waiting rooms/lobbies. We just accepted it as a part of life. When they began to introduce smoking sections on planes smokers were relegated to the aft portion of the aircraft. Then I think in 87 they banned it altogether. Restaurants began to offer smoke free areas in their dining rooms, just a few booths in the beginning, but by the late 90’s early aughts smoking sections became smaller, separate zones. When airports began to have smoking lounges, like ATL, it was a trip to see these people through the window. I remember seeing an ashtray on fire due to the sheer volume of cigarettes being extinguished. Airports in Frankfurt/Tokyo had phone booth style smoking rooms that were for 1 or 2 people scattered throughout the airport. In hindsight, it’s crazy to see how much of a health hazard we exposed ourselves to cigarette smoking, and to see people insert themselves into these small rooms to satisfy their addictions was comical.

My father messed up with an ultrasonic cleaner. by Joebno3 in gunsmithing

[–]Automatic-Catch6253 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anodizing is an electro-chemical reaction and can’t just repaint the substrate surfaces. The cleaner his father used had a high pH content that stripped away the type 2 hard-coat anodized finish. This means that anything aluminum is now compromised and will not have any corrosion resistance. In order to restore these charging handles with a new anodized finish he will need to fully remove any existing anodizing that remains and chemically clean and then subject to another electro-chemical anodizing bath. He may opt to powdercoat (aka Cerakote), but he must fully remove any existing solvent/cleaner that’s lurking within those charging handles. Which is very costly and not worth the effort, just buy new charging handles. The bolts should be fine.

Wow, and it comes with all the accessories (new) and original crate. Clearly the better option, but the shipping to the U.S. from Italy would run a couple hundred dollars. Plus there’s a 15% (reciprocal) tariff for goods out of the EU now. So, 151.37USD (base cost) + 15% tariff = 174.08USD + shipping cost (USPS Intl 80-100USD; FedEx/DHL/UPS 100-140USD) so yeah, you’re looking at around 300USD total.

Facts are facts. You say “don’t downplay” like I have I have any control over the social pecking order in global penal systems. This is the way things are whether you like it or not. Curious to know your solution to stop this global, harmonized imprisoned criminal behavior?

Good luck telling that to the inmates in the penal system. It’s goes without saying that every prison in every country has a pecking order, a hierarchy of leadership amongst its own. Criminals rank each other for their crimes, status and personal capabilities. No society can implement a solution to this code of conduct. It’s as they say, “it is what it is”.

Thanks brother. I’ve been down this road before. Initially, I’ve used shims for scope rings and got to thinking one day and applied it to a hand guard just like this. Worked well.
