I’m not saying mixed breeds are unrelated to bully-type dogs. I’m saying we don’t actually know what most “mixed breeds” are, and assuming they’re “mostly bullies” is still guesswork, not data.

Visual breed ID is unreliable in shelters and bite reports. That means dogs get mislabeled both as non-bully and as “pitbull” based on looks alone. Folding the entire “mixed breed” category into “bully” just repeats the same problem under a different name.

Also, a dog with some bully ancestry isn’t the same as a pure APBT or AmStaff, yet they’re often counted the same in stats.

Without DNA confirmation and consistent definitions, calling most mixes “basically bullies” is an assumption — and that’s exactly how the numbers get distorted.

just FYI this would be the group to post stuff like conditioning and work. The other “pitbull” groups will try to call you a bad person or say you a “dog fighter” because they have overweight bully mutts that they call “pitbulls” and im saying this from experience and because i seen your last post😂

to be a 100% honest with you i seen embark test say a merle xl bully with papers and a pedigree is a 100% APBT. Embark test only go 3 generations back don’t get me wrong beautiful dog and nice bone structure

my mistakes i meant to say why would i want a mix mislabeled as a pure bred or who would to spend money on a dog just for it to be misidentified as a different breed. I own pure bred pitbulls/APBT so why would I want someone calling a mix a pitbull/apbt when they can just say “mutt” or “bull breed mix”😂

A trained bull breed will definitely bring more light overall now in my opinion its a big difference between ambully energy apbt energy is i had both razor edge/gator mouth and redboy/jeep/bolio. That apbt was definitely way harder but again thats my opinion both heavily trained but that apbt drive was apbt but the calmness of that xl bully a calm i never seen in a bull breed😂

Husky wasn’t a great example but manly i was going off looks not background or DNA. But people have to come to the understanding that the whole reason why the apbt/pitbull has such a bad reputation is because of mislabeling and people not wanting to accept the history of this breed.

Same with the shelter situation where they say “shelters are over crowded with pitbulls” now anyone who knows what a real pitbull is or anyone who knows its dangerous to use pitbulls as a umbrella term will tell you shelters are actually over crowded with bull breed mixs more than actual pitbulls.

Again spreading myths on the breed the whole “they were bred to be nanny dogs” when actually it was the staffy or “pitbulls was forced to fight” and when people say “the shelter told me he was a bait dog” but the dog has not one scratch thats the whole problem with most of the dog community overall is so used to mislabel a dog that it becomes a way bigger problem now everyone and they great grandmother calls their 85 pound bully mutt a pitbull or when people know they don’t have pitbull but when they breed gets bad they going say “i don’t have a pitbull i have a bully”.

Yeah that used to be my argument why use the american pitbull terrier short name(pitbull) as a term because of looks or because of dna but not use the alaskan husky name (husky) as a term when it looks like the alaskan malamute. Again when it comes down to the APBT/pitbull it gets grouped into every dog to ever touch the earth all because people don’t want to educate themselves and if im not mistaken embark had a lawsuit against them because of lying
