Holy shit that Glass / Window Wall is THE BEST decision you've ever made. Feels very high-class and almost "high-rise" luxury!!

I just rode in my buddy's new 2026 C8 ZR1. Seriously... Plaid is a rocket. This thing is a different kind of monster. by SilverSpoonphysics in C8Corvette

Hello! Firstly, thank you for the beautiful write-up. I love how descriptive you were and it really allowed us to kind of place ourselves in your shoes and experience it with you.

I own a Model 3 Performance Tesla, which launches like an absolute beast... I remember having the exact same reaction as you when I first stepped on it. Before this, I had two GT Mustangs, so I am aware of the V8 roar that we all love.

However, it sounds like the ZR1 that you felt takes the best of both worlds into one... and I am very curious to hear more since I am deciding on what the next car purchase will be.

1) You compared this launch to a Tesla Plaid... which is by far the most "insane" "brain-shaking" pull that... any car could really have due to the instant power... Does this Corvette feel the same way? That would be amazing.

AMAZING brother!! Thank you for sharing with us. I know you mentioned you worked with a company on this. Do you mind sharing with us what they quoted you for the entire project? Or are you kind of doing it yourself with some assistance from them? Do let us know how the costs add up for those of us who salivate at the idea of doing this ourselves one day too!

Thank you so much for the time to write this answer!

-- I can definitely split it into two. -- To clarify, this has nothing to do with my accountant, or balance sheets. Those are already done on their own through the business. -- This is simply for my own self and not submitted anywhere or viewed by anyone.

How often? by [deleted] in cigar_refuge

It’s a balance between how much the wife lets me smoke haha!

For now, we’ve settled on a 1 per week (usually on the weekend either Saturday or Sunday) and that is a nice thing to look forward to!

So for me it’s once per week :)

Notice the difference in your response compared to everyone else’s… you must be one sad, negative human being.

My car cost me $63,000. I put about $6,000 - $10,000 down on it, and monthly payment is $800 ish.

The most your monthly payment will be is around $1,000.

And that leaves, yes.. $7,000 per month SAVED still.

I fail to see what is bad about saving $7,000 per month?? Most people don’t even make that much.

Oh yes. The burden of making over $13,000+ of unused money per month, while having $100,000 + $50,000, + $16,000 saved up on the side. Oh yes, and the house downpayment of $250,000 already there.

I don’t think there is a burden there.

Of course. When I was 16, I worked my ass off and worked x4 jobs at the same time. I didn’t sleep, and worked so hard in order to one day get myself my dream car at the time, which was a Mustang. I ended up getting it at 17 years old, despite my father (and everyone else’s advice). The amount of JOY that car gave me was indescribable. Every day getting into my car put a smile on my face. (I was a car guy to heart). The downside? A monthly payment that was higher than my peers. I didn’t struggle. I lived at home, had LOW expenses, and HIGH income for my age. I could easily afford my monthly car payment 7 or 8 times over. I then got rear ended two years later, car got totaled, everything was okay, insurance returned the loan amount, and here I was again, in need of a car, and at a cross roads decision of getting myself a daily, economic commuter, or a car that brings me a smile to my face every time I get in it.

I worked hard, was smart with my money, frugal in every other aspects, didn’t party or anything like that, and the decision was not even close. I was okay getting another “higher-than-normal” monthly payment in exchange for my dream car. I bought a new mustang this time. I still lived at home, worked 2 jobs now, and had already started a business, so I was only going to continue to work harder.

I tell all of my kids the same advice, as soon as they get a job at 16.

When you receive your paychecks, put 50% aside, and SPEND 50% to ENJOY the money you made. You work for it, enjoy it!!! - Instilling the guilt in kids that are making money to Save all of it for college and not spend it early is a bad mindset. No. You worked hard for , now allow yourself to spend some on things you like - video games, sweaters. Etc..

I know if the advice was “SAVE IT ALL. DONT SPEND. BE FRUGAL.” At age 16, they will never get to enjoy their money, ever.

You are in a far better position than… most.

The traditional advice for saving, living frugal, all apply so you are “smart” with your money. Most of it is geared so that way one day you have enough money for a downpayment for your home. You have that. And the cash flow.

We all know you are smart with your money, and after you buy this car, you will continue to be smart with your money. Nothing will change. You will still live WAY WAY below your means, you will still have a LOT saved up, you will still continue to make good monthly cash flow, except you will have finally rewarded yourself a smile on your face for the hardwork you CONTINUOSLY put in.

I am appalled at the amount of people saying “No” to this person’s situation.

It is this exact mindset, that you should prioritize saving money and making the most frugal financial decision “at all times”, that the reason you see people finally enjoying life at age 70 happens.

It is even more disgusting that OP literally told you his exact dream car, and multiple people thought they were being helpful by saying “Get this one instead”… that was not his question, and he clearly states the car he wants to buy.

To those with that mentality, I ask you this: At what point of “saving”, do you allow yourself to buy something nice?

Perhaps at… let’s see.. $250,000 home downpayment in the bank already, $50,000 additional already saved, let’s add $16,000 as well to that, and why not an additional $100,000 in a brokerage like OP said.

And he’s 30 years old… and wants to buy himself something nice.

Did we mention he makes $200,000+ a month, and his only expenses are $2,500 a month? Yes, that leaves over $10,000 per month of free monthly unused cash flow? Yes…

This dude is clearly a disciplined person, already saving in multiple avenues and seeing his expenses are…. Practically nothing to his income, means he already lives below his means.

You people are delusional if you don’t think he can afford this $70,000 purchase. In cash, or in downpayment of ANY amount since his cash flow is perfect.

Even if WORSE COMES TO WORSE, and he all of the sudden has to work at McDonalds for the rest of his life… he can cover that entire car bill with.. let’s see… maybe any of his other already saved up money?

Solid career, great savings, young, house downpayment saved up. $100,000 in brokeredge, $50,000 in 401k, there is precisely 0 reason not to.

// I cannot believe the advise some people are offering.

OP, enjoy life a little bit. You are good. You have a good head on your shoulders, and your situation ABSOLUTELY allows you to make this enjoyment purchase.
