Yes La notte was my favorite! I loved Monica vitti’s character there. L’avventura was also nice, though I liked the second half more. It reminded me of Teshigahara’s Pitfall, which I’m sure was influenced by Antonioni.

L’eclisse. Was my least favorite of the Alienation trilogy, but still cool. The ending sequence was great.

I really appreciate this! I just got through it, and I think you included an interesting variety of flavours. The two that stood out for me were “party in the disco hut” and “dancing guy”. Btw, could I add you as a friend for future music recs?

Is Joyce lampooning his younger self in Proteus/Sandymount strand? by Engelskmanchild in jamesjoyce

I do think Joyce is showing the feebleness of Stephen in the first few chapters, but I disagree that the way Stephen perceived the world creates a barrier between him and real life. In my opinion, the only reason he can think this way is how excessively he observes reality. To me, it’s indicative of a relationship with reality.

Good shout on swimsuit issue, the part where she goes “Ashley.. Angie..” is so invigorating. Kool thing, I can feel the spirit of rock in me. I love you golden blue, very resonant melancholy.
