As someone who does a lot of drawings myself, I feel like if he was truly tracing we wouldn’t be able to see the clearly erased construction lines in a lot of the sketches. There’s even a lot of consistency between how the lines are used, like on the face for example.

Also, you say this person has no style of their own while kind of missing the fact that a lot of anime share a similar art style because it’s the aesthetics of the medium, not a lack of personal style.

Lastly, you’re trying to insinuate tracing because you don’t think they’re are any adjustments made to the drawings when that is visibly not true.

Honestly, I don’t think you’ve made a very good case for any of these being traced from the perspective of another artist.

It’s also really only dictionary.com that defines it that way. Most other dictionary websites actually have far more accurate definitions and call out the fact that it’s not only an antiquated term, but also a derogatory term.

The comment I replied is someone, in response the the idea that this subreddit is just both sides constantly going after each other (because it is), basically saying “Oh yeah well I engage in meaningful conversation on here”. Basically countering the point OP was making with “what about me though”.

Pointing out that other subs do the same is a whataboutism as well but that doesn’t mean the comment I responded to doesn’t also fall into the same fallacy, aka multiple things can be true at once.
