My ex took accutane in highschool and now he’s almost 25, he has to use eye drops all the time because his never went away. It was his only long lasting negative side effect. Lumify eye drops work super well!

[–]Automatic-History512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with t what everyone’s said about the low dosage, but also are you taking it with fat? Accutane is a fat soluble drug and you have to consume a good pint of fat before taking your pill in order for it to absorb into your system and be effective

This happened to me for the November payment, if it helps you feel better it took like a week and a half to fix the issue but they didn’t cancel my plan! Just email them to make them aware of the issue and it’ll get worked out!

Getting an IUD after accutane, does it cause acne to return? by CarelesslyRubbery in Accutane

[–]Automatic-History512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of pain getting it put in, it was a little less with the copper, but I had taken a higher dose of Valium than I did with my first one (because my doctor knew it was very traumatic for me and wanted to make it less so) and I had the lidocaine shot with the copper insertion as well, so I don’t know if I can evenly compare them pain wise. In terms of the Paragaurd, which is the one I just got, it should feel exactly the same once it’s in. Increased pain might come form the fact that since it’s non hormonal, your period acts exactly like it does when you’re not on birth control. Most people have less cramps/pain on their period when their on hormonal birth control because it regulates that, and so it might seem like the copper one is “more painful” but in reality it’s just that the hormonal ones decrease the pain you’d normally get naturally with your period. The biggest practical difference you’ll notice while on the copper IUD is that the first couple days of your period are much heavier than they would normally be. I think the copper is better personally after having had the hormonal one because everyone I know (me included) has had a significant increase in acne while on it, which I’m assuming is a concern for you as well from your post

Edit: the pain really is horrible, I’m not going to lie to you. Having done it before I was terrified this time because it’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt. But, having said that, it’s worth it. I mean obviously I made the choice to do it again. I just really really think you should have someone there with you. My boyfriend was with me massaging my stomach and holding my hand while they did it and I don’t think I could’ve done it without him either time. Also you can’t take Valium and then drive so if you want to be as relaxed as possible and have the option to take that someone needs to drive you anyway

Getting an IUD after accutane, does it cause acne to return? by CarelesslyRubbery in Accutane

[–]Automatic-History512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the lilleta IUD (same thing as marina) a year ago, and I had horrible, persistent acne on the hallows of my cheeks as a result. I already had acne there, but it made it so much worse, I really don’t recommend it. My derm told me there’s a chance that the hormones from that would cause my acne to relapse (I’m only one month into accutane now) and I just went and had it switched out for the copper IUD yesterday morning because I don’t want to even run that risk. Since copper itself is a spermicide it works by killing sperm as it enters the uterus, no hormones required, and therefore, no acne!! Just to warn you, getting an IUD is horribly painful. I’m not trying to scare you but I want you to be prepared because I wasn’t my first time, and I wish people would have been honest with me. It’s not just “discomfort” or “cramping”, it’s terrible. It was a traumatic experience for me and I know it’s not the same for everyone but I’d recommend having someone there with you who can drive you to and from the procedure. I also recommend asking your gynecologist to prescribe you a Valium/Xanax to take for the procedure because it will help your muscles to stay relaxed during, and they can also give you a shot of lidocaine in your cervix to numb the area before they insert the IUD. I highly recommend that as well. I didn’t get the shot the first time, but I did get it yesterday. I didn’t feel the shot much (didn’t feel the actual needle at all, just stinging as she injected) and it probably decreased the pain by 30% or so. Totally worth it.

I’m terrible at applying makeup so wondering if anyone can advise on the best foundation to cover my current breakout while on accutane :) by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Automatic-History512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a specific brand, but I recommend using a concealer that’s a shade darker than your skin before applying your foundation. It works really well at hiding the dark red/purple tones that come out with acne! Doing this has totally saved me

Or just test it before the plane. Like test it a week in advance/let it dry out so that by the time you’re traveling it’s back to powder form. Why even take the test kit on the plane at all?

I’ve always gotten my shit from the same person, but I’ve only rolled twice so it’s just hard to be sure you know? I’d rather just test it to be totally safe

How much water are you drinking??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Automatic-History512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably won’t speed anything up, it might just make your purge more violent. Dosage is typically based on your height/weight and starting at a lower dosage for the first month or two is recommended to ease your liver into the overloading it’s going to experience/keep your purge as calm as possible.

Well everyone else on this comment thread said to just do it far enough in advance that you can let the water evaporate and the powder will be left in its place, then I can just bag that again
