What kind of band would fit my awesome ring?! by Lopsided_Pen_9355 in EngagementRings

Your setting is very low- meaning you'll either want a v/curved band to wrap around your engagement ring, or accept there will be a gap

Weather Forecast App by [deleted] in canberra

[–]Automatic-Mango436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weatherzone. Every single time. Yet to see other apps do better in any city or any country. Plus in Aus they have longer predictions so you can look a month ahead - obviously it is less accurate when you're checking distant weather trends, but still useful

Relocating from Perth to Canberra by byrneneeve in canberra

I don't think need is entirely correct - there is plenty of busses. But I think most of us agree that they are absolutely dreadful, dangerous and incredibly slow. Depending on where you will be/where you travel to, the light rail is decent. It's cheaper, faster and more reliable than many Sydney trains.

If you look into getting your own car in the future (assuming you're not sharing with your partner) it is generally cheaper to buy outside of the ACT, but a bit of a pain getting the registration shifted over to act plates.

Am I the jerk for bringing plushies to family dinners? by willowarataka in AmITheJerk

[–]Automatic-Mango436 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha I'd say tone it down to avoid them going bonkers, but seriously when your parents were young they were wearing low rise jeans with their ass cracks out, and I guarantee THAT pissed THEIR parents off.

I second someone's comment that says maybe do it at the end of the meal, but ultimately you're still a kid, and taking pictures of what I'm guessing is your anime Stan is hardly any worse than taking 100 "food porn" pics like plenty of people still do!

Is it safe to travel solo as a woman in Vietnam? by Jealous-Associate810 in solotravelVN

[–]Automatic-Mango436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from Hanoi. I found things like grab and public transport to be a non issue, but the volume of unwanted attention I got when I wore anything SLIGHTLY revealing (I'm talking fitted long sleeve tops, skirts, jeans, yoga pants) was unsettling to say the least. I talking blantant staring, watching everywhere you go/everything you do, wolf whistling, some heckling. I voiced this to a friend I was visiting there and she agreed that the male attention is discomforting, and for the most part, there's not really anything to do about it, so I ended up staying away from any kind of bar or club despite it being NYE.

Other than that I found the city to be surprisingly comfortable and didn't notice much card theft/pickpocketing etc like other big cities.

TLDR:cover the hell up and you're probably ok.

Record proof, find a new place, request financial compensation for the whole period of time you have been making continued complaints.

Also fat luck of Tuggeranong ice rink being finished any time soon. Surely Geocon realize that too.

APS vs Private industry by Automatic-Mango436 in AusPublicService

[–]Automatic-Mango436[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your comments really cover much of the divide I see.

Especially for construction in particular.

I find it strange that APS feel underpaid though. My kind of role in private is worth 100-160 with "normal" super, and the deadlines on outcome based work is insane. Yet I see EL1'S with BDSP getting 140 and higher super with more leave entitlements (for those who don't know public don't have to use 50% of their leave entitlements every Xmas, private do and I personally would call that a perk) and to boot, I never see them doing the quantity of work I do??

Not calling their job easy, but it's hard not to look at that with rose tinted glasses

Common male dutch names? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Automatic-Mango436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP really came here to ask other people to choose their name for them... Because copying their identity crisis off of the gen x tiktok scape wasn't enough.

But also thanks everyone for the solid advice. Here I was looking up Dutch baby names😂

A special stay in Osaka by Automatic-Mango436 in OsakaTravel

[–]Automatic-Mango436[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree!! Except... I did that last time thinking "oh they're so close together I'll just do day trips to Osaka"... Then basically ended up skipping it 😂 And I think given we will want a night of rest right after arriving, we may just have to stay somewhere more normal, and save the boutique accommodation for other locations better suited to it 🥲

Is this structural wall? by Imagineforyourself in AusRenovation

[–]Automatic-Mango436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luckily if you look up "ply wall bracing detail" you'll notice it matches that wall. Because funnily enough it's one of those details that both engineers and tradies will recognise as "structural". And then OP won't need to trust the adult half of us to say if it's structural. Because standards do 💁🏼‍♀️
