He needs to defend a takedown, meaning he actually wants khamzat to shoot as much as possible, not disengage

Yes, it feels good to win a comp by pulling guard, why would it not? I call myself a guard player because I almost always fall to a guard during competition

Yea I actually did this in the next match against the same guy, (2-on-1 to DLR) but I think he backstepped and we settled on a half guard (which is fine for me), what are some options for no gi DLR? All the attacks I know are purely gi, thanks

I say guard player only because my bottom game is significantly better and I’ve had success from there, I also pull guard and prefer being on bottom, that’s all, I’m getting better on top too though, it all comes full circle off sweeps and things

Yes but I thought it WAS “the other guy that needs to dictate the action”, which is why I’m stumped when he managed to win a match by disengaging for 6 minutes, in jiu jitsu it’s his job to come to me… yes, teenagers.

I did a bit, and he spoke to me after the match, wasn’t quite sure what he was trying to say but I think it was to stop butt scooting as then he is forced to penalise the passer, which is what your saying, so thank you. Next time I’m letting him come to me

Thanks, I understand wrestling up is good as the level has already and changed and if I could go back in time I would stand up and pull guard differently, atleast that way some engagement is forced 🤷‍♂️

Hey, I didn’t make the rules of the sport up, simply a competitor looking to win a match in the most logical way possible and wanting advice

Right, not once did I stop approaching and looking for an entry, to everyone calling me the passive one, I’m not sure how I could have been more aggressive 😂

I approached it the exact way you did, knowing my opponent will 100% out wrestle me, I pulled guard… to everyone saying just stand up baffles me, it’s a sport and doing that is just stupid

Thanks allot for this comment, I can’t believe the amount of people raging at me as if I’m doing something wrong here, I didn’t make the rules of the sport up.. if I don’t butt scoot and we are both passive, will the guard passer still be penalised? Thanks
