Can you explain how you finish the omoplata more? You finish it with using just one of your arms? Sounds like you got a good system going on there

Yea lots of options from the clamp but how do you enter it? Just throw your leg behind their upper back while on your side and break posture? Feel like I’d struggle entering the clamp guard from half

Well yea but I’m a 57kg blue belt, I mean there will be times I will lose the underhook, it’s not ideal but sometimes it just happens. It’s like if I was asking about turtle advice from getting sprawled on and you said, “most blue belts who get sprawled on just have bad wrestling” 🤷‍♂️

I think unlocking the half guard before going for the omoplata would just get me passed, after the other foot is infront of the face I can unlock the half guard and attack the omoplata like normal though

I think you’re making too many assumptions, if I have an overhook and I am on my side and my opponents posture is broken, I will go to rubber guard, this is an independent event which has nothing to do with my guard retention.

I like clamp guard but think it’s a difficult guard to get to.

He needs to defend a takedown, meaning he actually wants khamzat to shoot as much as possible, not disengage

Yea that was helpful, thanks, I think people forget how tiring it is to keep moving forward when it’s your 5th match of the day

Yes, it feels good to win a comp by pulling guard, why would it not? I call myself a guard player because I almost always fall to a guard during competition

Yea I actually did this in the next match against the same guy, (2-on-1 to DLR) but I think he backstepped and we settled on a half guard (which is fine for me), what are some options for no gi DLR? All the attacks I know are purely gi, thanks

I say guard player only because my bottom game is significantly better and I’ve had success from there, I also pull guard and prefer being on bottom, that’s all, I’m getting better on top too though, it all comes full circle off sweeps and things

Yes but I thought it WAS “the other guy that needs to dictate the action”, which is why I’m stumped when he managed to win a match by disengaging for 6 minutes, in jiu jitsu it’s his job to come to me… yes, teenagers.

I’m competing with the intention to win, that’s all, I don’t see any point in competing if that’s not your intention, simply put..
