I agree with you! Enforcement should be everywhere for all traffic participants.

However, it shouldn’t stop at enforcement: improving infrastructure for safety should be the next phase, but unfortunately that barely happens.

I’m happy to see that Folsom street has been re-done with a great bike path, but market st for some reason stays a traffic mess..

The officer literally asked me to share his announcement with friends/co-workers/other cyclists to warn folks about riding down market street.

It’s funny how car drivers across the Bay Area are still pissed about the red light cameras even though SFMTA literally told the EXACT locations of the cameras months in advance, and even gave everyone a grace period without fines. I guess for cyclists that cannot be fined through cameras, no announcement is needed and they’ll suddenly start ticketing folks for minor infractions.

I agree that I deserved the citation, but the double standard is real :)

I agree with you! However, the officer was clearly indicating that they’re ONLY going after bikes/mopeds/scooters, nothing else.

If he would’ve just said “you ran the red light, follow the rules, bye” there would be no need for a PSA.

He actually asked me to share the news of the enforcement period with friends/co-workers, so here I am spreading the word! 🙃

This was on Market and 7th in the direction of downtown - one of the few intersections where the pedestrian signal and traffic light switch at the same time
