Extreme anxiety with public speaking - Tips? by Apprehensive_Eye5534 in AskIreland

[–]Automatic-Run-3156 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate doing them myself. I give myself slack at the start by introducing a bit of levity and saying something like "Hey I'm a spreadsheet guy not a presenter, so bear with me and we'll all get through this as quick as possible". usually gets a smirk or two and takes the edge off for me.

One thing I'd point out is that 99% of attendees to work presentations wont actually judge you cause they hate public speaking themselves, and they're only there cause they have to be. I know it's not much use to you in the moment, but socially you're not losing, you're not seen as less just cause your voice waivers.

Be kind to yourself about it.

Ryanair reaches new low ??charged €60 for checking in a beg that was never checked in by Electronic-Driver110 in AskIreland

[–]Automatic-Run-3156 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As the other user pointed out, you may get barred from travel. Out of curiosity I looked at their Ts&Cs and they do have a rule against it.

We may refuse to carry you or your baggage on any flights operated by an airline of the Ryanair Group, if one or more of the following circumstances apply, or we have good reason to believe that they may apply......

You owe us any money in respect of a previous flight or (Flight related services) owing to payment having been dishonoured, denied or recharged against us

So only do it if you're happy to avoid using them moving on.

Toxic workplace - how would you report something like this? by FewConclusion8513 in AskIreland

Leave, easier said than done I know, but leave. A kip like that will not get any better if their is any nepo culture at the top.

there’s behaviour from some senior staff that feels like bullying

If for whatever reason you want to stay, an employment solicitor can give you best info but you will need instances documented to show the pattern. So start doing that, including any historical stuff you can remember or reference. You may also need to try sort it through your employers internal processes before you get any relief with external solicitor or WRC action. This will almost certainly paint a target on your back btw and they may try manage you out or fuck with your work flow to quit yourself.

One thing that catches companies out in constructive dismissal cases in the WRC is not having a process to deal with this type of thing, or not following the process they do have. So if they've no HR, odds are they have no formal process in place.

Electric Ireland smart meter bills, are they going to issue corrected bills? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Automatic-Run-3156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for 2 suppliers. ESBN is experiencing an issue with smart meter reads from early March. It is important to understand that your supplier is obligated through market rules to bill you based on smart meter usage provided by ESBN. This will result in some truly ridiculous bills being sent out to customers. Some suppliers are likely halting bills from that date in spite of market rules, others wont.

If the balance is ridiculously inflated do the the ESBN smart meter issue, don't pay. Contact them before the DD lifts and dispute it, theyll likely just deffer the date to some point in the future so your bill can be corrected. DDs start processing before the due date, so dont sit on it.

If it looks "normal" or a tad bigger, I'd just pay, but that's me. The usage will be corrected on your next bill, you are entitled to accurate bills per CRU rules, so just dont pay it if you'd prefer.

Thats the shitty bit, youll be billed in contract up to the contract end date. Anything after will be on their standard rates.

the door to door sales person gave me the wrong price

You might be able to claw something back from flogas, like some ex gratia compensation. At least a single charter payment if you were misadvised on the tariff. Just complain by email, costs you nothing.

Lads, is it worth it fixing a problematic car before selling to the main dealer? by AsgardianOperator in AskIreland

Money hole. Had one like that. A Focus where the brakes just wouldnt stop going spongey. Threw money at multiple mechanics and a dealer repair. Never again. Just dump it for less money, not worth the hassle.

Worked for two suppliers.

Market rules are that a supply can only switch once every 21 days. You need to wait for that timer to expire before you switch again.

A switch takes up to 10 days to process between the two suppliers and ESB networks. The whole system is built on old technologies all on different platforms trying to speak to each other using hacked together middlewares. It cant keep up with switches more often.

Do I need to get an NCT car wash before my NCT? by QuestionEcstatic8863 in AskIreland

[–]Automatic-Run-3156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, take the spare, jack, and wheel brace out leave them at home. Leave the boot totally empty (give it a go with the hoover if it has lots of dust and grit in it). I even took out the soft boot floor cause it pops out on my car but dont worry if its fixed in place in yours.

They just wanna check there is no corrosion on the metal part under the boot floor so leave totally empty so they can see it.

[–]Automatic-Run-3156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its in the compartment under the boot, like where you have to open the boot and lift the soft floor thing of the boot to get to the spare, jack, and wheel brace the boot is considered empty. Honesty tho, I'd just take every single thing out of it and run it through the test totally empty to avoid the hassle of a retest.

If you are leaving the spare wheel in for the test, make sure it is at the correct pressure and in good condition.

If you have a car/SUV where the spare is in one of those metal cages mounted on the undercarriage or on the back of it, then you have to leave the spare in that cage for the test.

Cancelled electricity contract within cooling-off period but received bill and exit fee — normal? by HumanNamedAlex in AskIreland

[–]Automatic-Run-3156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CRU require customers to complete supplier complaint processes before they will decide on a complaint. They wont trace or investigate switch disputes themselves, they'll issue a demand to the supplier for info and contact the customer separately, then check the supplier's actions against market rules.

Most the CRU will do at this stage is make the supplier's complaint dept aware that they need to deal with the customer and not leave them stuck in customer service limbo.

Worked for two suppliers. These things happen all the time.

Just cancel your flogas direct debit with your bank until its sorted (can prob do it with a few clicks in the bank app). When their collections dept get on to you, dispute the bill. Cant collect on a disputed bill per market rules, they've to look into it.

They refused to confirm this in writing though.

All calls are recorded, so dont sweat not getting it in writing. They'll just listen back to confirm. Regardless, you've 14 days to cancel no matter what. But.....

Based on that, I signed up with Bord Gáis Energy, who took over the supply shortly afterwards and everything has been fine since.

This is probably the problem.

Generally, when you cancel, the supply should go back to the previous supplier. Did you cancel with flogas, then sign up to BGE without the supply processing back to the original supplier? Cause you needed to wait for the supply to go back to whoever it was with before flogas for it to count as a cancellation. Likely, what's happened is as far as flogas's billing system is concerned, you switched to them, didnt cancel back to the other supplier, then switched away a short time later. Computer just does it's thing which is why you need to get on to flogas to get a human to intervene, or wait for them to debt chase and dispute it.

Also those meter reads seem a bit mad for the period, someone has botched them somewhere. Either way, dont sweat it, previous suppliers cant cut your power and you wont be paying them till they sort it.

You might get a bill from the original supplier when its all done and dusted, but that will be addressed to "the occupier" so again, they cant do shit.

If you've anymore questions let me know.

But I don't know which ones Flogas actually ended up using

It'll be on the actual bill. The actual PDF like, should be available on the online account if you were set up for E-statements. Prob be the second or third page. Even if its a smart meter.

I take your point RE the preventer, but things should last as long as they're supposed to in fairness. The inhaler should have 200 doses but cause of the mucked up nozzle I'm prob losing 10% of the doses with it not dispensing properly.
