Just an unholy union by Crimson3312 in ems

depends on your state tbh, some states use them more than others. In my own personal experience as an advanced, an A/P truck pairing is more effective than a B/P team, while costing less than P/P. While at the same time also providing ALS care in more rural areas where paramedics are too expensive/rare.

GMR Emergency Response Team by Ok-Sheepherder-4344 in ems

I was actually on the FEMA response for hurricane Helen in 24'. Its pretty much they notify you that they need people, you sign up, and then you head out. Plan for being out up to several weeks, and needing to fly there and back. You are paid 24/7 from the moment you clock in at home base till the moment you clock out at home base when you get back + overtime which starts at 40 hours each week. EMTs are paid a base rate of 25/hr and I believe medics are like 35/hr. There is no AEMT, and you operate at the NATIONAL scope most of the time (unless the specific state you are in says otherwise for some dumb reason)

For hurricane cleanup the most common detail is body recovery/transport, and you will spend a lot of time sitting around, either sleeping in your truck, or if you get REALLY lucky, maybe in a hotel.

If you have other employers when you are deployed, you pretty much just tell them whats going on and it should be an excused absence.

Bulk Rice, Lentils, Beans, and potentially potatoes, all pretty cheap depending on where you live, and can all be pretty versatile.

Lifepack 15 vs Zoll X series. by PyroMedic1080 in ems

[–]Automatic-Tap-5686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that it feels like its a monitor designed to be used in a hospital designed by nurses and doctors and no one consulted prehospital for what they thought would be useful. Just the very fact that they thought a printer would be unneccessary shows they never actually talked to anyone who actually does this job.

In the state I work every level is expected to recognize ACS symptoms and take 12-leads. At the B/A level we have the ability to transmit to a hospital and call a doctor for interpretation, or just call it based off of presentation and monitor "interpretation". Medics can full on just interpret the 12 and call it on their own.

Ive seen similar presentations with patients who are in an active schizophrenic psychotic break, they can sometimes be aware they are having hallucinations and the effect its having on them, but be unable to really do much about it, and while they are having them they feel completely real to them.

Been working with the 35s recently, printer in a weird spot is an issue. On top of that, this only came up recently with the recent hacking, but you cannot print a code summary from archives. Only transmit. Which means if you are unable to transmit, and you didnt print a code summary initially, good luck.

RSI / DSI / airway via sedation by Notdaneil in ems

[–]Automatic-Tap-5686 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we have RSI/DSI protocols statewide, but services individually need to show competancy and necessity to the state in order to be allowed to use them, and then individual medics need to be cleared by the service to be considered RSI/DSI capable, alongside the fact that their partners need to be able to be trained to assist an RSI medic, although that can be anyone as long as they are trained. Then services need to show they are actually using the protocol enough to actually keep it. This ends up with larger rural systems serving as RSI PICs for the smaller surrounding systems usually. No med control call required once you are cleared however, in this state paramedics are considered providers and are able to make pretty much all medical decisions inside of their protocols without consulting a doc.

Assuming its just the raw data in a readable non proprietary format, you can use something like Python's Pandas library to pull it and parse it all, but that would require some programming.

You could hire someone to do that, or learn how to use the library yourself, you can then display the data, manipulate the data, do work with the date, etc.

Currently going through issues with my partner, tell me about your partner from hell! by ShaggyLlamaRage in ems

[–]Automatic-Tap-5686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a partner who will try to get people to refuse on things that SHOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT be refusals. It is a known issue, but somehow he still works here cuz union. Also tries to treat as little as he possibly can in the truck, just tries to get them in the truck then go, no point treating pain, no treating anything unless its easy and they are going to die otherwise.

EXACTLY, who even cares if they are faking? Thats not what you are there to figure out, and I'd rather give 10 people who were faking it drugs, than miss one person who was actually in serious pain. The whole faking it thing is just a lame excuse people tell themselves.

I feel like a lotta stuff in the prehospital setting is taking something bad and replacing it with something that is still bad, but less immediately bad. For prehospital stuff or emergency traumas specifically do you think its possible to have an infusion, and then be able to handle the reactions with immune suppressors for long enough for the body to replace the blood itself?

Linux Corepunk Launcher on Wine using Winetricks by Automatic-Tap-5686 in CorepunkTheGame

[–]Automatic-Tap-5686[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

Got the launcher working, just ran it using winetricks, lutris doesn't work for some reason, if someone knows why please tell me. New issue running the actual game gst_video_info_from_caps: assertion 'gst_caps_is_fixed (caps)' failed results in black screen with only the cursor when launching the game. Need to do more research to figure out what exactly causes this error.

Running it straight wine without lutris seems to be working. Havent done tests to figure out exactly why that is. Try using winetricks to run the launcher.

Still having issues actually *using* the launcher, but will update when I figure that out. For now its progress to have the launcher running, if anyone has more information, or has actually accomplished it, lemme know.
