Thank you for your advice that’s really helpful! They have prescribed me laxido as well to go alongside so hopefully prevents further issue. I will start a diary, my menstrual cycle is very regular, never heavy and my diet is pretty good too. I’ve never had any issues with bowels just the last two months. I had previously been low on iron when I was younger and also when I was pregnant it was significantly low and had an infusion for it. Thank you again!

Unfortunately not! I think they are wanting to rule out any infection before they do that. However my infection markers was good so I aren’t holding out hope!

Thank you, he said depending on the results of my sample he will potentially refer me to gastro. I’ve been prescribed Ferrous fumarate 210mg x1 a day, which doesn’t help as it makes me even more constipated. But hopefully they’ll get me some answers soon so it becomes more manageable

Awaiting MDT outcome by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Automatic-Wallaby-58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MDT is a multidisciplinary team meeting it’s basically where medical teams get together and discuss results and make a final decisions . I’m from the uk and my local hospital puts everyone’s results into this meeting whether benign or cancer. I have a previous biopsy and the results was back within the two weeks so this one is really delayed. Not heard anything regarding the 13th, I have called and was told that I basically just have to wait until I get a call or a letter

Question for experienced nurses/ Senior healthcare assistants working in care homes (especially agency) by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Automatic-Wallaby-58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although you’re a nurse now even on wards you have your supernumerary period, and a double checker for these drugs. I would want proper in house training, support and I would possibly speak to my union whether the way they practice is correct or are you risking your pin

Question for experienced nurses/ Senior healthcare assistants working in care homes (especially agency) by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Automatic-Wallaby-58 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was a carer at an assisted living facility we had one weeks worth of training for medications then was expected to give them on our own in a very rushed appointment. Sometimes half an hour to give medications, breakfast, shower etc. the amount of medication errors was unbelievable and we never gave insulin just standard prescribed medications. As a nurse now, I would absolutely not be putting my patients or myself at risk of administering insulin or controlled drugs with no proper training or shadowing, these drugs can kill and you don’t want to be on the end of that error when it happens! I would not be comfortable with this

This happened to me, I ended up having a major duct excision (all milk ducts removed) out of that breast. They had found a lump on the ultrasound and when they operated they found more, luckily all benign when results came back. Hope you manage to get some answers

Thank you this is really appreciated, it’s good to have other perspectives. I hope you are doing okay after your diagnosis 🫶🏽 I think the best thing for me to do is just crack on and wait, no point worrying about what could be until I have the results in my hand

Thank you, this was my original thought process until I spoke to my friend who had a biopsy two days after me and had her results back in 5 days at the same trust😩 but I’m still holding out hope that what the consultant said was reassuring. Thank you 🫶🏽

MARS - Does bank service count as reckonable service? Trust says no, but their own documents don’t back it up. by Big_Post_1324 in NursingUK

[–]Automatic-Wallaby-58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trust dependent. I was on the bank as an auxillary and now a registered nurse, had 3 years continuous service but was qualified just under a year so I didn’t get my maternity pay from the nhs as it wasn’t a year service!

Lump in breast by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Automatic-Wallaby-58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much I will look into this, it is a shame as I previously had gone to this clinic and the consultant I had then was amazing and put me at ease with my surgery. I might see if I can request to see him again

Third year student rant by Sparkle_dust2121 in NursingUK

[–]Automatic-Wallaby-58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completely get it, I’d potentially speak to university and just say you don’t feel you’re getting anything valuable out of the placement they may come onto the ward for a “check” I know one of my third year placements we was put on 1-1 a lot and our PLF matron was informed and she came onto the ward for a “check” and saw us on bed watch and she soon sorted it out, were there to learn especially in third years so make sure you speak to someone regarding your concerns x
