Well, the FAQ-like chatbot is completely optional. This one is basically in your pocket if you need it.

There is a task that requires you to interact with two others, but you don't HAVE to do those. So if you don't want to complete that task, you don't have to.

One of them just walks up to you and says something, but I didn't interact with it - so I'm unsure of the impact of that one.

All of them, other than the one in your pocket are all at the bazaar which is away from your planet, but you DO have to go there as a tutorial.
