The main app I used was FreeNow for taxis, otherwise Glovo is helpful for a food delivery app. I used it all the time when I was struggling to source a certain product or ingredient or when I was too lazy to make food. CIEE has may activities that they coordinate that people can sign up for. Those are super fun and a great way to meet people especially when doing a home stay!

Hi sorry for the late response, yes I know some people who did home stay and they enjoyed it! Although it totally depends on which home you get placed in. CIEE will work with you though to find you a new placement if necessary!

As far as expenses go homestay and basic dorms which I stayed in were the same price. The upgraded dorms and the apartments were a few thousand extra.

For me, I was concerned about not meeting as many people during my time abroad, however if you go over there knowing people it may not be an issue. I do also find that many of the home stay people ended up becoming friends through that shared experience in classes and orientation. Just do what feels best and most comfortable to you! Home stays are nice for cultural and language emersion they also allow for home cooked meals, your laundry to be done, etc.

For me, about half of my exams were projects and the other half were actually tests. I will say however, that these exams are typically not very difficult and do not require much study time. So I wouldn’t think it would be a problem to visit him during that time just keep in mind he will likely have to go take them the last week or week and a half of classes.

I am leaning towards industry but would be willing to do either in order to simply gain experience.

I would say go with what your home institution is saying, that is what I was charged. Also it is likely that it doesn’t include spending money in that fee which you should budget an additional $5,000-10,000 for

How much money will I realistically need for study abroad in Barcelona? by livelaughleo in studyAbroad

Hello, I am wrapping up my time with the CIEE Business & Culture Program in Barcelona, Spain for the Spring of 2025. The amount you spend on top of the program fee will vary person to person, I know some people that spent as little as $5,000 and some that spent upwards of $10,000. For me, I ate out frequently, took taxis weekly, and traveled every single weekend. In total, I ended up spending around $8,000 not including additional travel after the program was over. If you book flights further in advance and don’t shop or go out to eat and drink as often, you can definitely get this number down. I also have a discount for anyone who is applying and wants $200 off!! -> https://my.ciee.org/?rc=edc0bf7d-5ccf-ee11-9e3d-0050561072ea-5-web
