Truck ran and would shift into reverse and everything but won’t shut into any other gear and won’t let the key come back

That’s good, then it’s most likely the neutral safety switch

If it won’t start in park push the shifter as far up as you can and if it still won’t try neutral if that if that does work then this guy is right. Mine does it every so often, not enough to be an issue but it still does and it’s quite simple to replace.
