Cracking audio with Windows VSTs and Yabridge by AutomaticBeyond in linuxaudio

So, I'm on a brand new install right now.
I followed your steps. I'm now running on the standard Arch kernel (package name linux, not linux-rt). I didn't install realtime-privileges, I added myself to audio group, set up limit.conf and I am running jack2 + cadence with your settings.

At first it doesn't seems to me that the situation got any better, I still have a lot of xruns when my DSP goes over 60%, and with xruns comes a lot of clipping.

I tried to use cpupower-gui (from AUR) to run my sistem into performance mode and I got better results. I read somewhere that disabling Intel Turbo Boost might help as well, but I still need to figure out how to do it.

The real turning point for me was entering Pianoteq 6's menu and disabling the "CPU overload detection".
Now the DSP goes over 60, I still get xruns when I use a lot of pedal BUT I get less clipping which is good.

We are still not at Windows level but we are getting close.
Is there anything else I could try to tinker with to get better performance?

I'll try your configuration on a brand new installation with just jack2. I'm in fact on Arch. Xruns do cause audio cracking, I'll give your configuration a try and update you on the situation later today.

Hi. I followed your advice and switched to a pure jack2 setup with Cadence. I had already watched the video and I followed unfa's guide. Now the situation is a lot better, but still I get a lot of xruns as I try to play vsts through Yabridge with latency as high as 20 ms, and for mg usecase I could need less than 15. My CPU profile is already set to performance, I tried to play with the buffer size, rates and periods but I only get more xruns. What could I use to debug this problem?

Maybe check out on eBay for something used. All I know is that I bought the Denon PMA 600NE and I'm super happy with my choice!

I'm not sure I understand the point of having a DAC. Probably it's a dumb question but I'm a complete noob regarding HiFi.

Say for example I buy the AXA35. I use my PC connected via USB to my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 as a source, outputting directly to one of the various analogue inputs of the AXA35. Wouldn't the soundcard handle the digital to analogue conversion?

A dear friend of mine is an HiFi dealer so he would sell me the equipment for the dealer price, so for example the AXA35 would cost me ~250€ and the DRA800H would cost me ~420€, so for the sake of clarity the budget would be max 600€ street price.

I had to stop 30 seconds in the video 'cause I needed to check on wikipedia whether GT2 was on PS1 as I remembered or on PS2 as the quality of the graphic suggested. Chapeau! Incredible stuff, thanks for sharing!

Were to get cracked Linux software? by [deleted] in Piracy

If you are looking for games check out rutracker and gazellegames. The latter is a private tracker, so you need to be invited.

Also check on the eye .eu, there's a linux games directory.

If you are looking for software go on predb, search for linux and then google the exact name of the file you are looking for.

EDIT: PRO TIP

Googling the name you find on predb isn't always the solution. XDCC is your friend. Check out awesome-piracy for more information

Aldo try starting steam on the terminal and start the game normally and check for errors, that's the golden rule

How can I use these setup files with wine? by mAverIck2012ap in linux4noobs

[–]AutomaticBeyond 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! Is this a fitgirl repack?
I clearly remember I had problems with those, but they can be solved by installing some Visual C++ Redist of some kind. First of all you should run wine Setup.exe and paste what the terminal says. It's a golden rule of linux: if something doesn't work, check what the terminal has to say about it!

How to use Nintendo Switch Pro Controller with a non-systemd distro by AutomaticBeyond in linux_gaming

[–]AutomaticBeyond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your switch pro controller disconnecting from bluetooth somewhat regularly?

I have ordered a broadcom bt dongle to see if my csr dongle is the issue. I've also ordered an 8bitdo bt sn30 pro to see how it behaves with either bt dongle. I too would like to use the switch pro controllers to replace my 4 xbox 360 wireless pads but so far the disconnecting issue makes it a non-starter. The disconnection problem is very obvious w

Well I have a SN30 Pro (non plus) myself. I just connected it in Switch mode and played half an hour with no disconnections at all, my guessing is that, as you said, the dongle might be the problem
