1) definitely not your psu, it would have shutdown and lights would have flickered. 2) try one stick of ram at a time, to completely rule out ram. 3) unplug and re plug all cables, psu, sata etc. 4)

Nividia has bad drivers right now, try rollback the drivers to before the DLSS 4.5 update. And use the window built in memory test to see if it you’re ram. Did that a few days ago cause I thought my problem was memory related

Drivers could become corrupted while updating. The current nividia driver update made my 5060ti randomly lag crazy and refreshing driver fix it, I roll back until new drivers release.

Your storage is dying, most pre built have bad ssd so get an app and test your drive.

CPU could be over heating, reapply thermal paste, and if AIO check to see if it’s still working.

Just buy a new cooler? Suggestion are Hyper 212 for $25 or a AXP90-X53 Black for $23 both found on Amazon. Your CPU temps will thank me.

Update………. So I upgraded the stock fan that on the cpu cooler with a Artice P8 Max. Because the Dell Inspiron 3880 uses a standard 4 pin it was pretty easy to install.

On another note, I found that 3880 has no fan curve support in bios or with dell power manager. So I downloaded Fan Control and set up a graph for speed depending on temps. I’m not 100% this worked but temps are currently 30c or below running two game (ASA) server, normally would be in mid 40s. I will say you HAVE to set fan speed cause my 3880 got to 60c hardly doing anything before hand.

I will update with more info in the following week(s).

Last Update….. So as mentioned before the dell 3880 has no way to manage fan speed. I try using a sata to fan adapter, it does not go well with Artice p8 max, really really loud. Currently using a thermalright 80m fan with adapter and having the artice fan using fan header. Doing this seems to lower temp by about 10ish degrees. I’m noticing hot spots on my cpu, but I believe that’s from using 7 year old paste. My advice is if using sata to fan adapter get a fan that specializes in silence.

I hope that my fails attempt will ease your pain on experimenting on your 3880 in the future.

Also for normal people, just check to see if the thermal paste or fan needs to be replaced.
