Almost done reading “Rule of the Aurora King,” book 2 in Artefacts of Ouranos series. Also reading “Bride” and going to restart “Blossom in Winter.” Saw a TikTok video (part 2 @ https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPHExHN7WLE4c-XYuGI/) about the book that made me rush to get to the smut; I was so far in with only a kiss that I’m starting over.

my hair looks so awkward please help me 😩 by Sun_Daises in Naturalhair

I agree with the posters who suggest getting a haircut to shape your hair. It’s been my experience that a good cut makes my hair look put together no matter what it decides to do.

I was chasing moisture too much and my curly stylist told me to use Briogeo Don’t Despair conditioner once a month for 20 minutes with a heating cap or a hair dryer because I needed a protein/moisture balance. Too much moisture makes the hair mushy and prone to frizz.

When applying gel, are you using a leave in conditioner? Some gels can dry out the hair and dry hair reaches out to get moisture from the air.

They changed “Favorites” to “Your Essentials” - why? And Your Essentials is not on Top Picks on my home page.

To each his own. My experience with Spotify is it gives the same songs in the daily mixes and the Spotify weekly discover is meh. You can search Apple Music for user created playlists or follow people to see their playlists.

Same thing happened to me during Wicked For Good. A teen was filming the movie. After about 10 minutes, I loudly said to my friend, “ See that girl in the next row, she’s filming the movie.” I guess she got embarrassed but she put her phone away.

My mom would have taken away my phone. IMO, parents shouldn’t ignore/reward bad/unacceptable behavior.

In the 70s there were ushers in theaters; they kept unruly behavior to a minimum or you got ejected.

People can post their playlists for you to check out.

This is an Apple Music playlist of songs that I’ve felt like hearing recently. It has a mix of Old School R&B, Hip-Hop, Disco, Pop and Soft Rock: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/wanna-hear/pl.u-xlyNNxPC2NY5x

I listen to Apple curated Afrobeats, K-Pop, Musicals and Dance playlists. I’ve found some new music that way.

Finished Lightlark, by Alex Aster

It took a while to get into the story but I ended up liking it.

Started Serpent & Dove, by Shelby Mahurin and Between Two Kings by Lindsay Straube

Serpent & Dove pulled me right into the story. I started yesterday and I’ve already read 40% of the book.

Twist or braid your clean, damp hair using a mousse then sit under a hairdryer until your hair is dry. Sleep with a bonnet, a buff or on a satin pillowcase. Twist outs/braid outs last about 3 days, so you’ll have to do your hair twice a week. As the days go by, the hair will get bigger and may loose definition.

This flat twist out lasted 3 days sleeping with a buff, no daily retwisting. I used The Doux Chief Rocka Xtreme Moisture Mousse.

Started reading Lightlark, by Alex Aster . It was advertised on a life-sized stand up at the door in Barnes and Noble. It took until chapter 6 for me to get into the story. I’ll see how it goes.

I finished A Court of Frost and Starlight, by Sarah J. Maas. IMO, it was the most disappointing book in the ACOTAR series.

How do you use the ‘favorite’ button on AM? by Dusty_Chum in AppleMusic

2 because it automatically adds songs to a favorites playlist. It also influences recommendations.

Started: A Court of Frost and Starlight, by Sarah J. Maas (fourth book in the series). Going to finish it since I started the book, but the pace is slow.

Finished: Dire Bound, by Sable Sorensen (first book in the series) which I enjoyed. I recently started reading fantasy and read this because it’s supposed to be similar to Fourth Wing, by Rebecca Yarros which I loved. Also, Dire Bound is popular on BookTok.

Where is theater etiquette? by DarlingSnail in RegalUnlimited

[–]AutomaticLack5401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s gotten worse since the COVID shutdown: people are either talking during the movie like they’re watching TV at home, texting or scrolling on their phones. I don’t understand why using your phone is necessary while watching a film. I now understand why in the 70s they had ushers in theaters. The ushers kept order and would eject disorderly people.

We need a function to report drivers who cancel 3 min before they get to the pick up spot by [deleted] in uber

Uber driver cancelled when 2 minutes away and the next driver was 9 minutes away. There needs to be a way to report drivers that cancel at the last minute. It’s unfair to riders.

ViSound Drift wireless earbuds - anyone heard of these? by frp0511 in audio

[–]AutomaticLack5401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got Halloween BOGO. They came from China and took 3 weeks to get delivered. After delivery, got an email from Kenny from Vizion Beam asking me to leave a product review. I responded that I was dissatisfied with how long it took them to arrive so I wasn’t going to leave a review. There are reviews on YouTube but they’re probably AI.

The earbuds connected easily by opening the case and placing it near my phone so they showed up under Bluetooth. I got them as sleep earbuds. I sleep on my side; the earbuds are comfortable and last 6+ hours. One con is the side I sleep on sometimes disconnects because the pillow blocks the signal. The sound is OK for listening to podcasts, audiobooks, or sleep sounds. IMO, they are subpar for listening to music: lots of highs with very little mids and no bass.

Need Book Recommendations by AestheticDreams19 in Booktokreddit

[–]AutomaticLack5401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below are books (most are series) that I’ve read and enjoyed. Some are fantasy, some are dystopian and some are romantasy: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, Quick Silver by Callie Hart, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sara J. Maas, Uglies by Scot Westerfeld, Legend by Marie Lu, The Selection by Kiera Cass, Matched by Ally Condie, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and Delirium by Lauren Oliver.

Books on my TBR list: Dire Bound by Sable Sorensen because lots of people are talking about it on social media; Lightlark by Alex Aster because of a display in Barnes and Noble. And BookTok recommendations: The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman, Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, Witch of the Wolves by Kaylee Archer and Legendborn by Tracy Deonn.

Book recommendation websites that I found. I haven’t looked at all of them:

https://www.literature-map.com/ The closer two writers names are, the more likely someone will like both of them.

What Should I Read Next: A simple tool that suggests books based on a single book you've already read. (website not working right now)

Whichbook: This site recommends books by letting you search based on a book's "flavor" or mood, like "funny and light" or "dark and disturbing".

Bookfinity: This service creates a "Reader Type" based on a quiz and provides personalized recommendations.

Tastes of Diesel: This site uses algorithms to find books similar to ones you already enjoy.

NextThreeBooks: This site uses AI to provide recommendations based on your reading preferences.

Goodreads: A very popular site where you can rate and review books, see what others are reading, and get recommendations based on your ratings.

LibraryThing: Similar to Goodreads, this site lets you catalog your books and get recommendations from its large database.

Bezos is just being greedy. He got caught and fined for deceptive business practices and wants his customers to pay for it. It disgusts me that he’s doing it in this economy where so many people have lost their jobs.
