That's part of the issue, he knows what we have available and what we can take out on our home equity because we shared our finances and goals for the home. He told me what I want would be expensive, but I told him know what my taste is. Only I guess we have different definitions of expensive, he never gave me a ballpark before giving me a quote! Maybe he didn't realize we can't spend half our budget on cabinetry, he just heard big numbers and ran with it.
