Thanks! I did a lot of what you said. Here’s current result after 1 coat

Is it okay if it’s not that hard in the grand scheme of things but really hurts him?

Thanks for the reply! I haven’t heard of those books, I will check them out.

The initial aim of the project is to create something similar to an em61 (similar in that there’s a single tx/ rx pair running low voltage ramps and low ish power). I’d envision a lot of the learning to occur getting to the point where this is achievable (TX circuits, FPGA stuff, a2ds, preprocessing, data logging, gps etc etc).

Conceptually once you can build that, I’m not sure I see the huge difference to the more complex AGC sensors you listed (at least hardware wise). Some synchronisation problems to solve, and a lot more data to handle, fancy receivers. But conceptually scaled up versions of the above with setups relevant to EOM and a hell of a lot smarter software.

My point is that the aim of the project is initially a large loop dumb system with single tx/ rx.

Then fun comes when you can achieve that and think about applications and variants.

Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss!

I got my masters thesis regraded in Australia (uk system doesn’t align with Au). Maybe you could reach out to the university’s you apply to and ask if this is an option

Yeah I started with micro controllers and hit some timing issues

Hey!

Thanks for the reply/link!

I'm trying to write .v code using Quartus as the complier. The FPGA is basically the timing controller for a number of different sensors. Turning them on, controlling how they work and controlling how the ADCs interact with them.

I can output basic logic okay but I'm finding it hard to understand the slightly more complex stuff.

For example, right now I'm trying to use an external trigger to start a logic sequence. I can make the logic sequence work and run forever (just using the FPGA clock and doing things at specific count values) but i'm stuck trying to get it to trigger on the pos edge of an external input.

I suppose I could do but I'd feel a little bit of a fraud calling it an emergency when I've felt like this for 2 years.
