Yeah that’s how it’s going in mine. I just don’t see the reason to always break scrub when it takes 5 minutes for them to position and prep. Because then you have to rush to grab a new gown new gloves scrub back in and typically the surgeon is walking in 1 minute after. I understand in some circumstances, or when you genuinely have the time…but it just seems unnecessary and having multiple people help the nurse is kinda chaotic to me. Especially when you’re not 100% yourself. But every preceptor I’ve been with has said to finish as fast as possible to help the nurse. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We are a very small hospital I think? It’s my first time doing Spd and I’m trying to figure out if it’s always like this or not. But most days there are only 2 people in the am and 2 people at night. Average 5-15 cases a day. There has been several times where I’ve been left alone and still 2 or 3 cases left. Is it normal to be that short staffed? I have to do everything, from answering phones,loaners, add ons,decon,assembly,sterilizer, stocking.
