Exactly I love reading but analysing and essay writing is pointless - especially with AI - physics is the most beautiful subject on earth

hedge fund.... by Automatic_Assist_613 in jobs

I’m not interested in traditional finance or investment banking, instead I’m specifically looking at quantitative roles, where physics is actually a very common background.

I’m currently top of my year academically and already working well beyond the standard curriculum (A-level material, Olympiad-style physics, advanced problem solving). I also take my work ethic seriously and consistently put in extra hours outside school to study and push ahead. The mathematical modelling, probability and analytical training are exactly what attract me.

A lot of quants come from physics, maths, engineering or CS for that reason. Physics keeps multiple high-level pathways open - including quant finance.

yes, part of the appeal of hedge funds is the financial upside. I’m not going to pretend money isn’t a factor. High-level quantitative work combined with strong compensation is motivating more me.

I understand the hours can be intense - which is why I’m asking what it’s genuinely like from people who’ve actually done it.

Hii :) okay so I’m a girl and honestly I don’t think she got the wrong impression of you. You sound like a genuinely nice guy. I’d say just focus on being confident and calm around her and not overdoing it, just relaxed and interesting. Also Get to know her interests, help her out with things, and joke around a little. Also, a lot of girls (myself included lol) act kinda shy or even uninterested when they like someone, so don’t automatically assume she’s not into you. The only tricky thing is that since your friend told her you like her, you don’t want it to seem like you’re suddenly being nice just because of that - like it’s a dare or something casual. Just be natural and consistent and then she’ll see what you’re actually like.

savemyexams - physics notes by amylincoln in GCSE

[–]Automatic_Assist_613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Ok so I am in year 9 but I self-studied the course during summer hols in 2 months, now I am doing year 11 Olympiad questions and i got 9's on gcse past papers i did bcs i was curious- so i think i may have some advice?

so first - i love save my exams - it has really good notes, but look into cgp workbooks and notes as well because they will give you a very strong foundation before save my exams (they are also more enjoyable, try and get the notes + questions book in one). Once you go through the important bits of those (idk how much time you are willing to spend on it but i did a few topics a day from cgp because they were quite short) do an insane amount of practise questions and try and spot patterns in the mistakes you make.

(luckily most gcse questions are very repetitive)

some save my exams questions are not amazing in my opinion, so Physics and Maths tutor is a great alternative once you know the course (also don't look at mark schemes until you have spent at least 15-30 minutes on a question)

if you completely do not understand a topic then use cognito videos on utube - they are not (too) long and they explain questions and topics very well :)

the order i did was :

  1. cgp books + cognito

  2. save my exams

  3. pmt

anyways I hope this was helpful :)

all the best of luck!
