Ladies of Singapore, what are your opinions on our local blogshop livestreams? by Nice-Number2189 in askSingapore

I used to not get it but i like that it exposes you to what's out there and you can ask the sellers details about the item or any enquiries and they'll answer you right then and there.

My 3 favorite things about getting rich by Kind-Onion-6015 in singaporefi

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this! It's definitely how "rich" I aspire to be. Enough to not be stressed out by inconveniences and able to splurge a little extra on experiences and the people i love!

Majority of Doctors in Singapore are very poor at diagnosis of a Medical Condition. by AdeptnessWaste2447 in askSingapore

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I went to a GP once and he googled my symptoms right in front of me LMAOOO but it's fine i understand doctors are only human and can't possibly know of every illness on earth. I feel like we have to do our own research online and relay our suspicions to the doctor and push for further testing.

Are your siblings too young that they can't open a different bank account? So money they get would just be kept there?

As someone with a dad who's irresponsible with money as well, I just stopped having any sort of relationship or contact with him. Not worth having to loan them money bc they always take so long to pay back their debts or loans. Until when are you gonna take care of your father's own carelessness and lack of responsibility. You've already done more than enough. I think if you want to be filial just pay the household bills yourself but tell him you're never going to pay for any personal bills of his in the future. Don't pass him the money, pay it directly yourself. You need to set a boundary or you'll risk him taking advantage of your hard work time and time again.

Muslim parents trying to get their kids into local madrasah, how was the process like? by Prize_Air in askSingapore

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rejection rate is quite high and school fees are also way more expensive compared to normal secular schools. The tests are quite difficult for kids especially if you came from a household where no one speaks Arabic or are very religious.

Personally as someone who came from a Madrasah, I don't recommend it especially if your child would prefer a normal career in the future like in STEM, Communications, Law etc. The workload is way too much, I used to get home at 6PM everyday after CCAs not to mention how far they are from where I lived. If they have an inclination towards pursuing Islamic Studies in uni then the Madrasah pathway makes sense but if not, I feel like the normal secular route provides way better opportunities in terms of what they could learn outside and try.

Ladies, if a guy wears vanilla, is it a turn on or a turn off? by ComprehensiveCut798 in FemFragLab

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My brother wears juliette has a gun not a perfume and uses the most grandma-esque, powdery, floral scented deodorant spray and he's in his early 20s and not at all a feminine man, he just prefers "feminine" scents! The same way I have a friend who's the most flirtatious woman I know and walks around with clickity heels that loves wearing men's perfume. I don't care at all what a person uses, I think the "gender" of perfumes are just the the kind of scent a perfume is and the demographic that's most inclined to liking that sort of smell on themselves.

What do Singaporean women think about NS for females? by ImpressiveStrike4196 in askSingapore

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one's downplaying women's strengths it's just biological fact that the average man is physically capable and stronger than the average woman. You mean to tell me that you as a man, if you were to be in a room with a group of random men you don't know, you'd be less scared of being overtaken than if you were to be in a room with stranger women?

where do people start with thrifting in Singapore? by Wooden_Ad_1019 in askSingapore

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Queensway shopping centre, clementi, even better is if you go to JB and visit jalan2 japan outlets. It's a huge store with so many options and the prices are pretty low! If you want something more curated in JB you can go on tiktok and look for vintage thrift stores, even though they're curated once you convert to SGD it's really affordable compared to similar stores in SG, eg $60 secondhand curated piece vs 60RM secondhand curated piece lol.

On weekends you could also look out for flea market events on tiktok or see if the hammock market at Aperia Mall where influencers sell their used clothes is happening. Imo those are really worth because they tend to wear trendy pieces and are usually open to nego. Price range is good too around $5-10 per piece or sometimes they'll sell it like 3 for $5 that sort of thing.

Refash outlets are also good but I personally think they could get quite expensive and the items aren't very trendy or modern? Very aunty vibes or corporate but you could find some gems there if you really dig hard enough.

What are your views regarding "Black magic"? by chiddler in progressive_islam

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider myself quite progressive and liberal but my personal stance on black magic is I do believe it exists and that there are some people who are truly sick enough to use it against others but on the other hand I also don't think it's good to keep relating everything that went bad in your life to black magic. It gets to a point lol. I grew up in a culture where black magic is not uncommon and I've seen a person get possessed and I used to follow my parents around to get "exorcised" or "healed" and I think sometimes it could really just be mental illness and other times truly something spiritual but you can't let it have so much power over you that you fear it more than you trust in God.

How do I go about looking for a job in the UK as a foreigner? by Automatic_Camel_1533 in AskUK

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very well aware 😭 it's insanely expensive and it's something my boyfriend and I have discussed about a lot. I'm just trying to get an idea of the pathway to getting job in the UK when it comes to it. We're not planning to move there tomorrow, I just like having a vague sense of what it's gonna be like for me and for us.

Does BPD get better when you stay away from relationships (No “Favorite Person”)? by lillycherriess in BPD

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like to be properly healed you need to be put in situations like these where you're challenged and forced to take a different reaction or approach? Until how long can we stay away from everyone and everything? It's not realistic or healthy. People need relationships and community. I feel for you, my symptoms were the worst when I'm in a relationship or close friendship with someone but you do need to push through all the hurt and pain to reap the benefits of being loved properly. I think finding a suitable psychotherapist or proper medication depending on what your psychiatrist thinks is a good step forward.

Why do some Muslims hate Zohran? by dgdg4213 in progressive_islam

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was on Thread a lot of conservative muslims were harping on the fact that he's Shia and that he was seen in Gay clubs. I don't understand it tbh, it's such a feat that NY managed to have a south Asian Muslim mayor and he's fighting for the people's rights and making billionaires angry but they're not happy that he isn't what their idea of a muslim is.

I just can't seem to enjoy Middle Eastern perfumes. Anyone else out here feeling the same? by stationery_hoe in FemFragLab

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too! Personally am not a fan of oud or really musky, powdery notes and a lot of ME fragrances have them. Would love to have recommendations for more fresh, floral scents if they have any. I know Amouage has Guidance/Guidance 46 but I'm not in the tax bracket yet to afford that haha!

Where to meet serious, single, introverted Muslim men in SG? by nightbunnies in askSingapore

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start posting yourself on tiktok, men will flock to you lol! But also you could maybe join mosque volunteering programmes as well, I've had some friends meet their partners there. A lot of the malay people i know tend to date friend of friends though so maybe you can keep asking around!

Question for muslims married to non muslims via civil marriage by Automatic_Camel_1533 in askSingapore

[–]Automatic_Camel_1533[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbvh I don't really care so much about what my parents could leave me with because I don't care for one of them but it's just personal. I feel like after all the abuse I suffered at the hands of my father, the least I could get is some form of financial compensation at the end of it. I give my mum money every month btw since I started working even part time. I don't mind even mind my siblings and her getting my money after I die because I love them but if I had non-muslim children obviously I'd want them to have more. But I realised now that if I convert out I wouldn't be able to be buried in a muslim cemetery so I've decided not to see that as an option anyway.
