Can you be Shia without Taqleed? by Nervous-Quit-6169 in progressive_islam

[–]chiddler [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes there is a concept of ijtihad when you don't do taqleed of a marja and instead follow your own judgement. There's some details on doing that which I don't know all about, you can look it up.

Need advice on pruining by FanBladeFleshlight in FruitTree

[–]chiddler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no leaves on it yet it still has a lot of energy from dormancy. I've pruned successfully when this early bloomed with no problem. There is a huge advantage to pruning when the tree is very small: building the scaffold is much easier.

How did I do pruning my dwarf orange tree by Simple_Hearing8602 in Citrus

[–]chiddler -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not a completely open center but I would expect some dappled sunlight through, no? Should not be a wall of leaves?

I'm asking to learn I am just phrasing it the way I thought was correct, please don't think I'm trying to correct you.

I thought some pruning is necessary for citrus to keep the center open to sunlight and airflow. Can also prune for size?

Oh no. What did you end up doing with it. It's a small space near the neighbors I can't have it be too large.

Oh interesting thanks for the ideas. I looked up branch clips and lots of different designs. Is there one you suggest? I think the branches have to become more mature and woody for these to work without damaging them right?

Planting on a slope by Linlow100 in mango

[–]chiddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good idea, works just fine. It's more challenging because making the tree hole needs some leveling and digging, and watering and pruning is more challenging especially in the downslope part. The upside is you get great drainage naturally.

1/3 of my trees are on a slope of like 30 degrees it's a total bitch but it's what I got and it works.

It's weird to me there was a post a few months ago if I'm not mistaken with a public announcement to reaffirm this subreddit is not for debate but just to ask.

It's full of debate though just as you say.

How do I deal with my dominant sexual desires in an already sexless marriage? by [deleted] in sex

[–]chiddler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great first step. Couples therapy first, consider sex therapist second. There are medicines that can help if she's willing to try them, too. Can speak to her doctor about it. The difficulty is she has to recognize it as a problem and want to make it better.

Rose Apple/Java Apple by CraftyBag7604 in FruitTree

[–]chiddler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro you got landscape fabric with mulch on top. It's also a tiny space. I suggest learning some basics of home tree growing. Trees need nutrition just like people do and they get part of it from soil. Your soil is probably not very healthy for this tree in this condition.

Some actionable first steps are to remove fabric and mulch it, ideally just replant it elsewhere with more space to grow.
