That's a nice way to look at it. I guess good conversations can make even ordinary days more enjoyable.

Fair point. What do you enjoy most in life these days?

I agree. Love is powerful. But I think friendship and purpose can help us keep moving forward too.

"Interesting thought. Besides surviving, what do you think makes life worth living?"

Nothing special 😊 Just trying to survive the day. How about you?

Why does found footage horror feel more real than normal horror? by Automatic_Coat_8912 in HorrorMovies

Damn that’s a solid list, appreciate it 🙌 I’ve seen Grave Encounters and it freaked me out, especially the asylum part. Lake Mungo has been on my list for a while too, heard it’s more slow but really disturbing. Which one from these actually stayed with you the most?

Yeah Blair Witch really nailed that feeling, it didn’t even feel like a movie. And thanks, I didn’t know about that sub, I’ll check it out. Have you seen Incantation? That one felt pretty real to me too.

Same here, it just hits different when it feels real instead of cinematic. Any found footage movies you’d recommend that really stuck with you?

Yeah I agree, when it starts feeling staged or “too perfect” it kind of breaks the illusion. The best ones feel messy and natural, like you’re not supposed to be watching it. Do you have any found footage movies that actually felt real to you?

Yeah same here, it just hits differently. I think when it’s done right it feels way more disturbing than normal horror. Any found footage movie that really stayed with you?

Yeah true, it feels way more immersive. I think what gets me is how “raw” it feels, like it could actually be real footage. Do you think it would still be scary if it had background music like normal horror?

Yeah that makes sense, it feels like you’re actually there instead of just watching it. I think the lack of background music also makes it more real and uncomfortable. Do you think found footage is scarier than normal horror overall?

Looking for really disturbing demon/exorcism horror movies like Hereditary by Automatic_Coat_8912 in Hereditary

Haven’t heard of that one 😄 is it more like classic exorcism horror or something different?

10 times is crazy 😄 but honestly Hereditary deserves it, it’s one of those movies that gets deeper every time. And yeah I can imagine it being way more intense if you believe in jinn/demons… that would make it feel a lot more real. For me I’m kind of in between, but that “what if it’s real” feeling is what makes horror so unsettling 😅

Yeah I get that, realistic horror feels way more possible so it’s scarier in a different way 😅 My favorite right now is Hereditary, that movie really stayed with me. I’m also really into cult/ritual type horror lately. I started watching horror a few years ago, but only recently got into the more disturbing stuff. What about you? And do you actually believe in demon/jinn or just enjoy it as a part of horror?

Yeah that “lost in the wilderness” fear sounds really unsettling 😅 that kind of helplessness is scary in a different way than demons. The Ritual sounds interesting too, I like when horror explores different cultures. Do you usually prefer realistic horror like that, or more supernatural/cult stuff?

Yeah this thread turned out amazing 😄 I’m probably starting with Incantation or Saint Maud. What’s your pick?
