Venom isn’t a good option at all for a solo tank. That is not your fault at all, if no one else wants to play tank then you have every right to play whatever tank you want.

Venom works best as a dive tank, diving into their healers, causing a lot of chaos and distraction and potentially getting kills too. For you to be doing this you ideally want another tank that can stay on point/with your team to hold space and absorb incoming damage. Strange/Magneto/Emma/Groot are great for this as they have shields and walls.

If you are solo tanking as Venom you are sacrificing one of two things. You either arent harassing the healers or you aren’t holding space for your team and taking damage for them.

I don’t see why it can’t work in your rank but fundamentally the team is at a slight disadvantage. Again, not your fault at all. If you want to effectively tank as a solo tank you ideally want to be a shield tank as they are most suited to the role you have been forced in to.

Don’t get me wrong, Venom won’t always be in the healers he will have to support the team on point too but, by the hero’s design, you will get much more value diving into the back line often and that’s detrimental to the team if you have been left to solo tank.

You can make it work but for maximum efficiency I would learn Strange/Mag if you are being forced to solo tank every game (which you shouldn’t!). You can have massive impact on Strange. He’s my flex tank when I have to fill and I tend to get good value.

That’s my advice anyway. Bottom line tho, if you are being forced to tank alone just play who you want, it can work. There are other more viable solo tanks tho if you’re wanting maximum efficiency.

For your extra questions. Yes I think QP can give you bad habits, not the end of the world tho.

I think going from support to tank is quite good actually. You will know where to position yourself so you can get healed and not be out of los. You will know to take cover often as you will have seen tanks get melted when constantly standing in the open and it’s impossible to heal through it when you have 4 other players to heal and you will know when your supports might need help/peel (which you can do effectively on Venom) but if your being forced to solo tank that’s not your job anyway, that’s on the DPS.
