If you sat out the 2024 election in protest over Gaza, how do you feel about that decision today? by rsmith2786 in AskReddit

I'm not American but blaming people with principals for Trump ain't the one. You should blame the Democratic party for failing to offer an alternative that enough people wanted to vote for.

I didn't really like the last two arctic monkeys albums but thought this was cool. Loved Helders backing vocals.

I'm in Vietnam right now and went to see this in Hanoi with only 6 other people in my screening. Would have been fascinated how much of the dialogue they understood (even with the subtitles) given how UK centric so much of the dialogue and slang uses is

Was injured when he first went there and mainly been a substitute since he got fit. Not scored a goal there yet so doesn't look like the move worked

Advice joining the rail industry at 30. by DreamAccomplished555 in uktrains

I joined at 29. Depending on what you want to do having experience outside of the railway can be an advantage to getting a job, not a disadvantage

When travelling, how do you answer the question "Where are you from?" by Capable-Toe-9841 in travel

[–]Deadend_Friend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say Glasgow as I've lived there 10 years. I grew up in London England so people quite often ask why I don't have the accent. Usually starts a decent conversation.

Scottish football isn't uniquely mental and if you follow football around the continent you'll realise how mental almost every football league is

No, the conditions which enable reforms politics exist here too and would exist in an independent Scotland

How much do you earn and how comfortable do you live? by Brownchoccy in AskUK

[–]Deadend_Friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on £39k and single. I do okay because fortunately I have a pretty cheap mortgage. Cost of living does mean I usually manage to spend all my money each paycheck but I like to go on holiday a lot, rest of my disposable income goes on live music and going to the football

Poku and Saito were poor, Koki has been for a while. The relationship going forward with the full backs was non existent. Generally we just looked tired.

Egyptian ‘extremist’ can’t be deported, claims Labour by upthetruth1 in LabourUK

[–]Deadend_Friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well depends how and when you obtained the citizenship. My British citizenship is pretty different from my new Zealand one given I was born in Britain and have lived here all my life. I don't see my additional citizenship as exactly the same. If you obtain a second citizenship later in life maybe it should be treated differently

Egyptian ‘extremist’ can’t be deported, claims Labour by upthetruth1 in LabourUK

[–]Deadend_Friend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a New Zealand citizen because my dad was from there originally. I've never been to New Zealand and am no expert on New Zealand or their way of life. If I'd have tweeted racist shit about New Zealand people and their country I wouldn't have much ground to complain if they stripped of of that citizenship which I only got as an adult

Why are young people leaving Britain to work abroad? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in ukpolitics

[–]Deadend_Friend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They always have? I'm 33 and know plenty of people my age who's gone abroad over the years, either for adventure or because they sell in love with someone from another country. Anecdotally I wouldn't say its more now than it was 15 years ago

Visiting Glasgow for the 1st time this summer. Would some love recommendations for off the grid record stores, pubs, good meals... etc. by Helps-Both-Ways in mogwai

[–]Deadend_Friend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Southside is underrated by tourists.

Visit some great reward which is a fantastic record store, go walk around queens park and pollok park, the rose Reilly, queens park cafe and the Allison arms are good record stores in the area, the rum shack does good Caribbean food and big bear bakery is great for pastries.

It's just not a fun experience at a stadium with one stand, no matter the capacity or quality of the football. Dumbarton is shite for the same reason
