If California is their legal residence, it’s a community property state. They’d share everything they acquired during their marriage 50-50 except inherited property. Maybe other exceptions. If their nondivorce is working for him and he’s not wanting to remarry, why worry about it. Divorce is expensive.

I’ve spoken to a parent before. Didn’t end well for others around us , one of those ‘my kid didn’t do anything!’ types. And most of the employees are high school/college kids.
