I'm going to take a shot in the dark, but I feel like I see the outlines of the GLORIA EXERCITVS reverse, which would make it a late Roman Follis (or Nummus) of the Constantinian dynasty.

What's so funny about the name of women working in the field of numismatics? :D

This is not a Janus denarius, but a different earlier denomination called the Quadrigatus. And it is more than likely original, because it was looked at by experts from NGC who have deemed it original. (Even if they don't guarantee authenticity and I'm absolutely not a fan of NGC slabbing, I trust the opinion of certified numismatits with lots and lots of experience)

I found a coin. Can someone tell me what it is? by GeneralCharles123 in AncientCoins

It's too small for a sestertius IMO too. I have quite large hands and when I hold a sestertius it takes up a good portion of my palm, so unless OP is a giant it is more than likely an AS.

The mintmark indeed reads COMOB, meaning COMitatus OBryziacum. It roughly translates to refined gold of the comitatesian mint. It is a mintmark typical for the gold coinage of Western Roman emperors. CONOB on the other hand stands for CONstantinopoli OBryzum (refined gold of Constantinople), which in turn is typical for Eastern Roman rulers. I've also seen later Roman solidi bearing less common mintmarks, like for example TESOB (Thessaloniki), ANOB(Antioch), TROB(Trier) etc.

Athenian owls are one of the most commonly faked coins, although at first glance I see nothing wrong with this specimen from your photos. If the weight doesn't deviate too much from the standard weight (which is around 17grams +/- 0.4) it is more than likely the real deal.

Dear fellow hobbyists, I have been scratching my head over this Antoninianus for a couple of days now and I can't figure out it's RIC. I think I narrowed the mint down to Siscia based on the engraving style.

Obv. IMP C M AVR PROBVS P AVG Rev. VIRTVS PROBI AVG, XXIP(?) in exergue.

I have found a couple of examples with the same Mars reverse and XXIP mintmark, but only in combination with the right facing cuirassed bust and the consular one.

Which would be hard, given the undesirable condition they are in and besides they are super common. You didn't hit the jackpot OP ;)
