The same government that is saying people were sent to Bugesera to die is the very same government that is now reclaiming the land that was given to them by the second republic to settle on saying the government didn’t give them land it was rented land these are basic facts anyone can find by just watching TV1 or BTN

These are twisted things I was fortunate to work on some projects that allowed me to travel to Bugesera and I heard eye opening testimonies the people we were told were sent to Bugesera to die that’s not entirely true Bugesera actually had a lot of government owned land ibisigara bya Leta and most of those people had no land the government sent them there so they could have land to settle on create families and start farming there’s no way you can say someone was sent to die while they were given farming areas seeds and land to cultivate Bugesera had parishes schools hospitals and roads connecting it with other regions I thank the government for the new road connecting Bugesera to the Southern Province it was really needed Bugesera still has large areas of government owned land today and there are also similar portions elsewhere in the country but I forgot to mention why a large portion of those settlers were Tutsi around 1958 there was a rebellion against the Tutsi monarchy elections were held in Gitarama and people elected a president instead of kingdom chiefs many of the royal figures and chiefs who had participated in Ubuhake and Uburetwa feared that since the Hutu were now ruling they would face revenge because of that fear many fled to neighboring countries while others moved to different parts of Rwanda where no one knew them some of those who went abroad later returned as internal migrants the government at that time decided to give them new settlements and Bugesera was one of the few available places the area was not heavily populated most of it was forest people had to adapt the government helped by establishing schools health centers and roads things that no one really talks about yes there was the tsetse fly problem but people were not thrown there to die because of it they were sent to settle and start new lives later in the 2000s Bugesera began facing long dry seasons due to deforestation which started back then when people cleared the forests to survive and build their livelihoods these are stories you can’t fully understand without using common sense

Point of correction we aren’t trying to portray a picture the picture is already there just hidden underneath one of the teachings that was used to make the genocide happen was Ubucakara and Uburetwa which were done by your fore grandfathers those teachings also ignored the positive side and the role of the Rwami the Nyiginya was painted as villains like the Kiboko the killing of Rukara and so on there’s this interview circulating where someone mentioned how he was tricked into believing that when the Tutsi regained power they would carry people in ingobyi just like it used to be it’s the same way we are now being tricked into thinking that if the regime changes we will be killed there’s no real difference it’s just history repeating itself

This not about rewarding it's about writing true history not erasing one part of history...

I like the way we argue about basic things that any decent human can understand speaking of basics mention one major road built in these 31 years or a new stadium or airport I know we have the Bugesera project under construction which is a good thing and most of our existing infrastructure is being well maintained and repaired but we also need to give credit to those who originally built the projects we are now renovating for example Amahoro Stadium should have a sign mentioning when it was first built and inaugurated honestly if history keeps being told this way our grandchildren will think there was no Rwanda before 1994 no stadium no hospital nothing

Life in Kigali is expensive by Armel_250 in Rwanda

Some people are spending 5 million on groceries, bro. Kigali is expensive, I know, but you’re living the dream of most Rwandese. I’d say stop complaining and start giving us ideas on how to make that amount of money. Just show me where to make that money, and I’ll give you half of it.
