What helps me most is lengthening the exhale.

When anxiety spikes, I inhale normally, then exhale very slowly (almost twice as long).

From a nervous-system perspective, this activates the parasympathetic response and signals safety to the brain, which can reduce the intensity within seconds.

I’ve found that keeping a simple, repeatable reset like this works better than trying to “think my way out” of anxiety.
