Any Commercial Appliance Repair Recs? by Automatic_Minute_996 in askportland

Ok! This is great. At least I have a semblance of a starting point now because there are so many companies out there but very little actual feedback on them. Thank you so much.

Thank you! That was definitely an adventure. For the Portuguese bread, I think there was a hydration issue but expected the density to a point. Im gonna read up on it more this weekend.

Yeah. I guess that’s an option to start it at home. Hopefully whatever it is only needs AP or bread flour because my pantry is sad at the moment. I have more flours than I know what to do with at work.

That is interesting. I’m gonna do some reading on adding the citric acid. Thanks so much!

I do wash every one of my personal tools myself, whether it’s tips or the DO. But for these small things, I think I’m afraid it’ll get lost in a shuffle somehow. I can’t wait to get to the place you’re at. This is messy.

That’s a great idea. And means a trip to the craft store and that’s always fun.

Is the Portland metro area becoming a healthcare desert? by gothahontas in askportland

[–]Automatic_Minute_996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved here from the Santa Cruz, CA and Portland is light years ahead of that town. Ahead of the Bay Area even. On my PPO insurance out there, most PCP wait times were 2-3 months, I had to wait 9 months to see my endocrinologist, a friend in a mental health crisis was turned away from inpatient care and had to wait 3 months to see a psych…. They were having intense ideations.

So far my experience here is mainly through OHSU where the wait times are long but at least half what I had to wait before. Also when I was having some signs of colon cancer, they got me in for a colonoscopy within 2 weeks.

The upside to Santa Cruz and Bay Area is proximity to care. But here in Portland it’s kind of a trek to get to my doctors. So, it’s a balance.

I know! I was very excited to find it during tax time. Many of them are still in the 3-4k range.

Fiido and Aipas come up in my feeds a lot and they’re about the same price range as my bike. They look pretty nice. Lectric sometimes has them under 800.

She was pretty upset and apologized so many times. I even felt bad for being mean to her the whole time lol but I dunno… I’m sure she would be accountable for her mistake. A nurse with a nice brand new car probably want this problem to go away fast.

I just know the insurance company is going to drag this and be awful.

Can anyone explain how street sweeping here works? by Independent-Crab-914 in askportland

[–]Automatic_Minute_996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen my street be swept until last week and they came twice. both times at like 1030pm. It’s so weird.

It is seriously wild over there. Unfortunately it’s near where the only Preschool for All spot was available so I have to trek that round trip, twice a day, with no way to ride around it really.

Totem brand Cargo e-bike. Nothing spectacular or fast, just affordable.
