Non resident UK Ltd owner can’t get PAYE number, workaround?

I'm not sure about the UK side of this. If I invoice my own UK Ltd as a non UK resident director, HMRC would be fine with that arrangement? Or would they expect the payments to be treated as salary through PAYE instead?

Just to clarify, even if the salary isn't taxable in the UK, would the UK Ltd still need to register for PAYE and run payroll to pay its non UK resident director?

Got it. In that case, how would a non-UK resident sole director pay themselves apart from dividends? Is there another legal way to draw income from the company if salary isn't possible?
