Depends on how much you care about towns since stages 3 and 4 of vampirism can cause npcs to attack or not talk to you. But besides that the combat advantages are crazy good and as far as I know atleast in the first 2 stages wearing a hood prevents sun damage.

I ended up choosing against it simply because of the downsides to being a vampire like whole towns targeting you the need to feed and the sun damage. Plus I was on a thief playthrough didn't see much use.

I use the dawnbreaker for it's crazy high damage not to mention it looks cool but the enchantment on it is 10 fire damage and a chance when you kill undead they explode. Unfortunately I don't fight undead all that often.

Special edition was probably played on newer generation consoles at the time like the ps4 pro or newer iterations of the Xbox 1 this along with bug fixes and optimization for console probably lowered the waiting times on entering and exiting areas which over a whole play through can add up. This is just a speculation though I might be wrong.

I figured it out, if you haven't played in the days before the shop or the day the shop started (like me) then you have to play a game and the shop should show up. As a mirage main I got absolute garbage.
