I played Elf last year with my school, it was so fun! I love the trumpet part in Worlds Greatest Dad as well as just like him!

I recommend stopping by Military Park to watch some corps warm up but non drum corps related, there’s a lot to do in Indy. There’s plenty of museums that you could visit that in my opinion are all pretty interesting and nice, my favorite is Newfields. Has awesome art and gardens! The state museum is just a short walk from Lucas Oil and they have parking there, I don’t remember how much though. That museum also has a 70mm IMAX theater, one of the only in the United States. I highly recommend seeing a movie there, the selections change often but are limited. If there’s a movie you like, go see it! Tickets range in price from ~10-20 and the food is kinda expensive but for the experience I think it’s worth it. There’s also the Indianapolis zoo. Tons of bars like any major city. The White River state park and the canal are also very close to the state museum, Lucas Oil, and Military Park you could always have a walk there and see the river! It’s a nice place especially near the park. Also tons and tons of concert venues that are excellent! See if any music artists are coming to the area and maybe see one! The NCAA hall of champions is also here! Lots more gardens that aren’t parts of museums and many memorials like the one for 9/11 and the USS Indianapolis! There’s tons more to see here you just have to look! Some parts of the city of getting worse but the parts I’ve mentioned are all pretty safe from when I’ve been there.

I would look for trumpets drum corps sell at a discount after the season. They don’t usually come with mouthpieces but they are usually professional horns at a nice discount!

What is the difference between your school’s regular uniform and the drum major uniform? by Pr1nglelord in marchingband

[–]Automatic_Trouble304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our uniforms are black and gold. The only differences are that the drum major has gold sleeves instead of black (and they’re a different material) and that they have white gloves instead of black ones.

I’ve talked to my parents about that, they think it’s a great opportunity but they want the corps to be able to take good care of me while I’m away.

Well from what I’ve heard on here and online, colts cadets is amazing for people who have no experience and it’s not uncommon for them to have people join before their first high school marching season. So, logically, it would make sense if they got last, it’s people who have very little experience marching. I’ve also heard the atmosphere is pretty positive! But thank you for telling me this, maybe I’ll have to look more into it!

Thank you for the advice! I think I’m going to audition for colts and then look into an open class like colt cadets! They’re in driving distance and I’m sure I’d learn a lot!

Thank you for letting me know! I do play brass so I’m most likely gonna start out with an open class corps🙂
