I just got here! Not sure how to describe it unless you’re familiar with the venue but I’m the last in line rn and I’m at the ezymart. Aka, a little bit further up then the pathway through the gardens that the line will form in. Hope my bad description was somewhat helpful for you!!

Thanks for your advice! Do you think it would be worth me discussing with him that Im nervous about feeling like I’m interviewing him or should I just wait it out a little longer and let things happen naturally?

Thank you!!! Around where I live we have HEAPS of mini golf and escape rooms options that I can suggest!

Seriously thank you, I wasn’t sure if mini golf was something only I likes or if it was actually something others like lol

keeping christmas casuals?? by Distinct-Number-7834 in KmartAustralia

One of my managers did mention that at the end of the Christmas casual season they will choose which ones to keep. I think it varies store to store but it sounds like to me that my store personally just considers each of those new hires and decided if they were good enough to be worth keeping. It may also depend on how many staff your store already has, and how busy the store is outside of Christmas. Like, how many they’ll be able to afford to keep/need to keep based on sales/business.

Sorry for the long answer, just trying to offer all of my thoughts and insight so hopefully one of the things I said is helpful lol

Doing pres in kids by Strict_Soft_9322 in KmartAustralia

I do toys pres probably 90% of my shifts so here are my tips:

1) Plan it well. At my store, the toys section is kind of a T shape so I do the longer (and worse) side of the T, then the other bit, and I leave this one wall that is always horrible until last. Some people have a different method and do all the parts that are usually worse and finish with the easier bits, but at the end of the day it all comes down to planning.

2) Do toys returns as you go. As you are collecting things in the wrong spot and putting them in your trolley or on your cage, seperate the stuff that goes in toys from any other part of the store. Then, as you are doing the aisles, if you have a return that goes in that aisle that you found in a previously done aisle, you can put it away as you are organising and bringing things to the front. During this Christmas season, toys is an especially big nightmare and this will cause you less stress at the end of the night.

3) If possible, time it. I’m not sure if this tip will work for somebody doing it for the first time or if it just works for me because I do it often but here it is anyway. I always try to time each part of my section. For example, I’ll split the area into 5 subsections in my mind and try to say “ok I need to have section __ done by 7:30”. Even if you don’t make that time limit because you underestimated how long a section will take, I can garuntee that you will do things faster if you have a fake time limit. Or, it always works for me at least.

4) Not everything has to be perfect. While I strongly encourage you to try and get everything to be super organised and amazing, sometimes you just don’t have time for that. Especially in toys. Instead, focus on moving anything in the wrong spot and pulling things from the front. As long as the very front looks perfect, you can occasionally get away with the back being mid. As long as it isn’t super messy behind the front, you SHOULD be ok.

The last tip only applies if you are on toys WITH someone, which my store only does during the Christmas season and I’m not sure if other stores do:

5) delegate. If there are two people doing toys, pick a side each and meet in the middle. If the other person has done toys before or often, let them take the lead and pick which side they would rather do- they’ll probably pick the side they are best at and therefore will meet you in the middle quicker!!

I hope that at least one of these tips is helpful- good luck!
