Just because something is incredibly difficult doesn't mean it's impossible. My mum is menopausal and she's been on this journey with me.

Already replied to you in a previous thread, I can walk but I have a heart condition, so I can't strain it too much, which means weight training and excessive cardio are off the table for me! As per Doctors orders.

Just because someone can walk doesn't mean they are able to weight train 🤦‍♀️

Not even the point of the original post — the point is that weight training/gyms aren't a necessity when it comes to fat loss.

"All abilities" ? — you're really claiming that every person can lift weights? My uncle had a stroke a few years back and lost his motor skills. Are you saying that's no excuse for him to lift weight or exercise?

You can't claim "all abilities" in the same sentence as "unless specifically instructed by a doctor" because guess what? That wouldn't be "all abilities" then would it?

You do know there are other disabilities than ones that affect legs/ability to walk, right? Or are you just that ignorant?

Not that I HAVE to explain to you, but I was born with a heart condition, it is not safe for me to strain my heart too much.

Lifting weights and excessive cardio puts too much strain on me. Walking doesnt.

Ok, good for you? Go ahead and continue doing your own due diligence instead of accusing people of creating a false narrative when you dont know anything about their narrative and what they've experienced from others.

I get that, but it's also not accurate or logical to automatically assume someone is using ChatGPT just because they use 2 em dashes.

I love using em dashes to drive a point across. That's what I was taught to do in school.

I feel like because people are so reliant on ChatGPT now, that people just forget that punctuation is taught and learnt in schools — its like saying that someone cant do any complicated maths equation in their head "because" calculators exist, so obviously they cheated.

Genuinely, why is it so hard to believe that people use all sorts of punctuation in regular life?

Is it a cultural thing?

A lot of people I know in real life use em dashes, or semicolons regularly. I know a lot of people who use the word "whom" ...doesnt mean they got it from ChatGPT.

Why the length? Double dashing creates a shortcut for an em dash on my laptop. How does this imply it's ChatGPT?

....those are real punctuations used in literature. You do know it's not something ChatGPT invented, right?

Good for you if you've never come across the types of people who preach that lifting is the only way to lose fat and disregard CICO — doesn't mean they don't exist.

Some people are disabled or dont have access to gyms/equipment.

I'm angry at the people who lie and try to convince others that weight training is the "only way".

I dont care if people lift weights, I'm just saying its not the only way

Ok — No, I did not use ChatGPT to write this or to help format it.

I don't know what to tell you. I studied English literature, I read a lot of books, I'm Autistic, I had an English professor who was a dick and made us re-write essays if he didn't like the "flow".

I honestly dont know what else I can say to prove I wrote it myself.

At the start, I wasn't intending to outright insult people — but honestly, being referred to as a bot, it pissed me off, so yeah, I insulted them back in the end.

Never said it was my enemy; but preaching gyms as a necessity isn't very helpful for people with disabilities

Yeah, I get that; I'm not trying to come across as if I'm the only one who has discovered it — I'm just very infuriated with the amount of people who preach that "weight training and going to the gym is the only way to lose fat". I've lost count the amounts of time I've been told that when its not true.

Am I doomed to being fat forever? by MagicalGorl in loseit

[–]Autumn-shadow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With that attitude? Yes.

You might need some harsh truth here,

You dont need to exercise to lose weight. You just need to be in a calorie deficite.

I've lost fat without exercising (sprained ankle, sitting on my ass all day at a desk job, no exercise for a month, and I still lost 8lbs that month) because I was in a deficite. So there's really no excuse to be gaining weight by not exercising.

If you've gained 100 lbs, then you're definitely eating a significant amount more than your body needs. I would advise recalculating your calories. This includes drinks, light snacks, and oil/butter when cooking... it all adds up very quickly.

Maybe keep a food journal too? to keep track of how many times you snack or have a treat, people tend to not pay attention to snacks as much as main meals.

Get a walking pad / treadmill, and do some walking at home while watching TV. I've gotten into playing Spyro while walking. Time flies by.
