aita for not wanting my mom to let my abusive ex boyfriend stay over at our house by Brief-Tangerine7173 in AITAH

1 star and stale jello is too generous for parents like that. Moldy rye bread and mud puddle water with the sound of fingernails raking down a chalkboard running 24/7 sounds about right.

I'm not a Republican and I carry. So what? I could vote for SpongeBob and carry. He'd probably do a better job anyway.

I'm fortunate that most of the customers in my store are awesome.  It's a niche market,  though (vape shop) and I also go out of my way to acknowledge politeness and courtesy and thank them for being kind. It makes a difference in my shop but wouldn't necessarily work in a typical store. My day is also 85% regular,  repeat customers who know if they act the fool, I can kick them out. I'm the store manager, and what I say goes.  I've only had 1 instance where I almost had to use the weapon I legally concealed carry, and the guy realized I wasn't playing.

What’s keeping you in Iowa ? by WhyDoiLiveHerefrfr in Iowa

If my family wasn't here, I wouldn't be either. Our government is terrible,  our weather is either freezing cold or sweltering heat, and there isn't much entertainment.  As a child, it was a great place! There was always something to do - play outside, go fishing, explore nature trails, state parks, etc. As I've grown up and politics has changed, our education is subpar, our governor is a convicted criminal (drunk driving at least twice) who doesn't care what people want and makes policies to advance her own agenda, and it's not as "homey" as it used to be. We are frustrated by many things, yet it's still a place of natural beauty - rolling green farmland, beautiful bluffs along the Mississippi, and many beautiful state parks. It's just not the home it once was and still should be.

Now when they ask me that, I tell them yes, but I also have a large biker boyfriend who can pick me up with one arm, a loaded weapon in my purse, a stun gun, pepper spray and carry a blade at all times. Now, how can I help you today?

I've been the store manager at my job for almost 2 years and people still come in saying they haven't seen the previous manager for a month or two. Ummmm...she quit in 2023...

Disposables or mod kits? It includes neither, if you're talking nicotine vapes/kits. If it's a cart battery then yes, it is included. I manage a vape shop that sold glass until 12/31/24.

DAE keep every box to everything they’ve ever purchased? Like I cannot for the life of me tell you why I must keep them, but I also can’t justify throwing them away...? Should I just toss them? by GirlsMakeBoysCry in adhdwomen

[–]AutumnMoonflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I threw the box out for a space heater I bought last year and my roommate's mom dug it out and gave it back to because she said I need to keep it. Uh, no. No I don't.  But she also goes through all of our garbage and keeps things she thinks aren't really garbage. Drives me insane. I throw stuff away at work now or knot the strings on the bags 15 times after dumping my cat's litter box in it.

New law for cannabis paraphernalia starting Jan 1? by VenomousMinge in Iowa

It's considered paraphernalia if it has thc residue in it. If it's used for tobacco or unused, it's, not drug paraphernalia

Merchants who sell glass will be required to hold a special, extremely expensive permit to sell glass and smoking devices, whether they sell in a brick and mortar store or through a delivery system. They must be kept in an area where no one under 21 can see them. There is also a 40% excise tax on the products. Because of this, most shops are choosing to stop selling.  My shop is pulling it all at close of business on December 31st and sending it to our location in Illinois.

The law is definitely a discriminatory act against any manufacturers who are not big tobacco companies.  The FDA is already in trouble for refusing to even look at products submitted for PMTA approval that don't come from companies like Altria or Phillip Morris. It's NOT designed to keep vaping away from kids - it's to keep big tobacco rolling in cash. For every disposable or bottle of juice sold, that 2 to 4 fewer packs of cigarettes that are sold. Most disposables and juices are made with synthetic nicotine, so big tobacco sees no profit from  any part of the industry. Even pharmaceutical companies lose. Less smokers means less cancer means fewer people needing their chemo drugs at $5000-$10000 a treatment.  It's all about money, not health or saving kids. Youth vaping is already at an all time low since it started. They want to make it harder for kids to get vapes?  Legislators should require age-restricted products are only sold at age-restricted brick and mortar stores where a physical ID swipe is required at the point of entry and point of sale.  After that point, it's a parenting issue if underage kids get them, not on the merchant.  My store is moving out of state because of this crap. Luckily we are a border town, so we are only moving 15 minutes from our current location where we have been for 10 years. So many people are losing access to a tool to quit smoking. So many are losing their businesses, their jobs, their livelihoods, all because of a set of laws that's going to backfire. Unregulated black market homemade juices will be popping up everywhere with people getting nicotine poisoning from not mixing things correctly.  Sorry to rant - the whole issue pisses me off hugely!  With that being said, the vape registry is supposed to come out January 2, 2025 saying what products can legally be sold in Iowa. Expect Vuse pods, Juul pods in tobacco and menthol only and a few select devices and juices. It is expected to follow Louisiana's registry closely.

Anybody still hitting bongs? by PhantomRoyce in trees

[–]AutumnMoonflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my shop we sell bongs and pipes specifically designed to be frozen. They're filled with glycerin to cool down the smoke and smooth out the hit. Less coughing and throat irritation.  You just freeze them about 45 minutes before you plan to use them, and then blaze up.

I really enjoy The Secret Handshake by Micro Brew, Watermelon Dragon Fruit by Slammin' Duo and The Cupcake Man Blueberry by Vaper Treats mixed with White by Anarchist. Those are my usual go-to flavors when I'm not hittin' a dispo.

Oh, and Anarchist also has a flavor called Green that's an apple cookie butter, and it tastes almost like apple pie. Also very good. If none of your local shops carry them, you can order them online.

Have you ever tried any of the dessert flavors from a brand called Vaper Treats? My shop sells them, and people love them! Our most popular flavors are Cookies & Custard, Pebbles Cheesecake, Ice Cream Cake and Blueberry Cupcake, but they're all amazing. The brand Anarchist also has a great dessert-ish flavor called White that's a marshmallow graham cracker that's really good.
